Many thanks, guys, for all the good wishes! It was indeed a good day, out and about with husband and dog. We went first to Ten Thousand Villages, a fair-trade crafts import store just off Route 15, where I bought another brightly colored African basket to add to the collection (this makes three) that decorates my office. Then to Bruster's Ice Cream nearby. This is the dog's favorite destination in the whole world, because they hand out free doggie sundaes. She insists on standing in line with us to watch the ice cream being handed out the little window, then gobbles hers down before ours even appears, THEN responds to a nice lady's affectionate comments by trying to get back in line with HER! Then on to Borders, where I restrained myself (relatively speaking) by buying nothing but the current issue of Vogue, with the First Lady on the cover -- the first and probably the last issue of Vogue I'll ever buy (unless she's on the cover again). Then we came home and ordered pizza. Needless to say, the dog greets the pizza delivery person at the door and follows the pizza to the table.
All in all, not bad for a late-50s birthday. Thanks again! |
