When Duncan first arrives at Albany and enters Webb's headquarters, there is a man seated on Webb's left wearing what looks like a brown coat and a green vest and has a white wig. The script mentions only Webb's adjutants. This person looks like a civilian. Any idea who this might be?

Yeah, I watched it again tonight!

My copy of the script also fails to include anyone but the so-called "adjutants". ( There shouldn't be more than one, maybe two, actual adjutants since all they are are military secretaries. ) Of course, there really SHOULD be various civillian functionaries included who handled the details of planning any military campaign in the period. Benjamin Franklin performed various supply and commissary functions as an agent of the Pennsylvania government ( since the controlling pacifist Quakers refused to help ) working to get the Forbes expedition moving in 1758; probably this extra was intended to suggest a similar functionary in New York. There's no telling who ( but Michael Mann presumably ) or why this change occurred in the script, since I question if there was anyone on set would've known any of these details.

Fitz, do you mean the rotund man who laughs at Webb's jokes? I've assumed he was just a prosperous local burgher, inserted into the scene by Michael Mann to underscore how much Webb liked to joke and preen and share good food and drink, and how little he liked hard work such as fighting.

My first thought was what James posted, they he was a civilian contractor supplying the army. But then I also wondered who would have known to add that type of person. Mann must have had something in mind. I just wonder what.
