Hello my Mohican friends,
I apologize for my absence from posting. Some things have popped up and I feel I need to share them here. I posted this at my website, Alamo Sentry.
quote: To the members/viewers of Alamo Sentry and The Alamo Field,
I am very sad to inform you all that in the very near future, I will have to relinquish my role here at Alamo Sentry. Included, I am very heartbroken to announce the following.
Due to drawn out occurrences and sudden misfortunes, my family is going to lose our home. This fact has had a great impact on my family, especially my father. Some of you may remember my father mounted the famous Alamo hump onto our house, his childhood home, during renovation about six years ago. The family morale is low and we've cut corners to get by. The word on all of our minds is survival.
Upon losing the house, I will lose my internet connection. With that happening, I will not be able to access or provide you with the material I've posted on Alamo Sentry for the last several years. I am looking for someone with a strong passion for The Alamo to take over Alamo Sentry, who can moderate with a neutral & kind mindset, is respectful of all and very knowledgeable about the makings of a website, message board, and all of its complexities. If you are interested, feel free to send me a private message or email me at mailto:Dillon1836@comcast.net
I am scared because I don't know what is going to happen. I am afraid for my family, for their future, and for my own. But with that fear, I am filled with a sense of hope that something good will come out of this loss. In accepting that, and fighting back these damn tears, I want to thank every one of you, all of my dear friends, for making this what it has been for me and my father. The Alamo is more than what it is on the surface. Its about friends and family and the struggle. About something that runs so deep, not many words can explain or describe. As much as all of this has been rewarding for me, the greatest award is giving back to you all, The Alamo Field, who have given me so much. Thank you.
All the best, Wade Dillon
For you all here, I appreciate the friendship. You all have graced me with open arms. Hell, while I enjoy the LOTM film, I am not into it as the rest of you are. But, we all have found something common in our combined interests in all things history. I want to thank all of you for your support along the years. Most of all, I want to thank Joyce (Wilderness Woman) for your motherly advice in my troubles. I am grateful for it. Rich, Sgt.Munro, two kettles, and Mike Rumping, I want to thank you guys for your support in my historical endeavors. They'll be everlasting. And for the rest of you, whose names I don't even know....it all comes down to the support this entire message board community has given me. Thank you all.
This is good-bye, for now. I know, sometime in the future, I'll be back.
All the best, Wade Dillon

Oh, Wade...
I am sitting here struggling to hold back my tears. You have touched my heart. I am so very sorry to learn your news... so very sorry for your father, your brother, and you. This is devastating, and I feel so bad for you.
Wade, I have watched you grow up over these past 5 or 6 years, from an adorable, talented, passionate, and enthusiastic teen-age boy into a handsome young man who is extremely intelligent, sensitive, talented, and still passionate and enthusiastic about the things he loves. The greatest compliment I can give you is that I would be proud to have you for a son. You have stolen my heart.
You will never know how much I will... already have... miss you here. My hope and prayer for you and for your father is that something good will come out of this misfortune. No matter what happens, Wade, never let your circumstances change you! Always, always keep your wonderful attitude about life.
I will be praying for you. All my love, Joyce |

So sad and sorry to hear of all your troubles Wade. All I can say is God Bless you and your family and I hope and pray that things will work out okay for you in the future. Try and stay positive (hard I know) but we have all had tough situations to deal with in our lives and overcome them and at least you have your family with you. Try and stay strong which it sounds like you are doing. God Bless. |

I am so sorry to hear this, Wade. Please know I will be wondering and worrying for you all, and remember, too, that things WILL get better, given time. You're a tough cookie, and Iknow you'll weather this storm. You and your family will...are...in my prayers. Remember, too, that you are loved and deeply respected here in Mohicanland by many people. Hang tough! |

Oh Wade, I'm so sorry to hear about you're situation. It seems more and more nowadays the story line for many folks. You seem like a very strong individual with many, many good qualities about yourself. So like you said, at the end of all this is a wonderful outcome that maybe a blessing in disguise. Always be positive and keep you're head on straight! My thoughts and prayers are with you and you're family. Take care of yourself! Melissa |

Wade--
I've been wondering where you've been, and I hoped that no news was good news. I'm so sorry to hear of your family's predicament. Your Alamo home is something I'll always remember.
I hope that you, your family, and friends find strength in each other. And I hope that, one way or another, you continue your studies.
When you get back online, please update us about your life. And know that we are all thinking of you & your family.
You have always impressed me with your interest and enthusiasm in history, and how you shared it with everyone. You've touched more people than you know.
Take care, and stay strong.

Wade - I can only reiterate what everyone else has expressed. I am so very sorry to hear of your difficulties. It is a hard time right now for many people, but to lose your house just is wrong. You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. Take care of yourself.

I concur, Wade, with all that has been said. I, like Miss Wilderness, would be proud to have you as one of my sons. I don't know quite what to say, young friend, other than to Remember the Alamo!! Their fate was sealed, yet they persevered bravely till the end. You will have a much brighter ending, I am sure. Just persevere! |

Hello everyone,
I just want to thank you all for your support. It is greatly appreciated. While this ordeal gets harder and harder to deal with as the days go by, I take one step at a time in hopes that some good will come out of this.
Joyce, you are a sweetheart. Your message touched me. Thank you.
As of now, I am venting my frustrations into my artwork. A positive outlet, no doubt. It helps.

Hello everyone,
Seems luck has struck my circumstances.
For the past couple of months, I have been smitten with a girl named Sarah Martin who lives in Arlington, Texas; four hours away from San Antonio. She shares the same feelings for me and in a surprise act of hospitality, her mother has invited me to stay with them! So, if all goes well here, I will be in Texas by the middle of September before my 20th birthday.

There I am with her before The Battle of the Alamo reenactment last March.
I'll keep you all posted.
