I received my copies of the complete series of Walt Disney's 1959 series "The Swamp Fox". I'm tickled to death... it has been ages since I've seen it. Yes.. it's not like it really was in S Carolina back in 1780....exactly......but it is so much fun to watch!!
Usually I pick these things apart so much my wife won't watch them with me, but I've enjoyed this so much I've just bitten my lip and smiled and kept watching....

Ah yes, Leslie Nielsen with dark hair...and not funny! In spite of the fact that "South Carolina" looked exactly like "Southern Californa," I always did like that series. |

I thought that too Obi but they had spanish moss in the trees and aligaters in the water. I'm not too sure this was shot in southern California. The sets did not look like the usual "western" out doors sets....know what I mean???? |

I definitely remember some outdoor scenes in which the grass was dry & there were oak trees all around.
Lest we forget, LN starred in "Forbidden Planet." The living definition of "cheesy!" Take a look at his resume on IMDB; he played an episode or two in just about every TV series of the 60's & 70's! |

Just having watched it the other night I can safely say that it was probably not shot in S. California. When the chase scenes were going on there was no Roy Rogers look to the back ground....The wooded scenes were many different types of trees, but not a lot of pine, there was a lot of water, creeks, streams and such they rode through... and as I said.. alligaters. |

I stand corrected...but then I haven't watched it in several decades.
...and on some related (Disney) notes, does anyone remember some of those other great series?:
Andy Burnett (Andy's on the move; Andy won't rest; Andy Burnett is a-traveling west)
John Slaughter (played by Tom Tryon) (Texas John Slaughter made 'em do what they oughter; cause if they didn't, they died!)
Elfego Baca (English = Alfred Cow!!!) -- the first time I'd ever seen Robert Loggia.

OH! Be still, my heart! How well I remember Leslie Nielsen's Francis Marion. I was so IN LOVE with him! Well.... actually, he had to share that billing with Fess Parker and Roy Rogers, but I digress.
Hawk, I would be right there next to you on the couch, with the same silly smile on my face!
Fitz, I saw "Tammy" on TV, again, not too long ago. Love that movie! |

I do remember Texas John Slaughter, starring Tom Tryon who later became famous for being a writer. "The Other" was his first big seller I think. No, the only other Disney hero I remember was Guy Williams, as "ZORRO", he later became even more famous for being John Robinson in "Lost in Space". |

Greetings:
Hawkeye, you got the COMPLETE series? I got a DVD but it only had the first three episodes. Where did you get it?
I remember SWAMP FOX from way back when. The tune always stuck with me. It's like whistling Yankee Doodle.
