I'm posting this because some of my friends on here knew about my possible heart blockage. Well we were at the VA from 8AM - 6PM, & so needless to say we're kind'a tired (LOL). I got my echo-cardiogram & chemical stress test done today, and should find out the results by tomorrow. Wow, it was a bear of a test. Tonight i'll probably glow in the dark with all the nuclear stuff still in me (ha). I feel sure that the test results will come back negative, but even if they don't, folks who know me also know that I'm not a quitter. If I was, I'd have given up long ago having 9 herniated discs, one knee needing total replacement with the other knee having already had one, and 40-45% of my lung capacity due to Agent Orange exposure in '68 (LOL). But I'll keep on going until I finally grow up, (HA), like that'll ever happen. I'm like Peter Pan, I'll never grow up!!! I might slow down a bit though (LOL). Mike

My friend, our family will keep you and yours in our prayers, you betcha. I've never had that chemical stress test; surely it must be better than that evil torture device aka the treadmill! |

Good luck, Mike. Hope all will be well.
And btw... as one from the same era, thanks for your service in Viet Nam. I'm sorry you are suffering the consequences of that now. |

Good luck Mike. If you got through the stress test OK, then maybe you are alright.
I had one of the stress tests done some years ago. I used to run, and my resting pulse was in the 40's, and on the treadmill never got to 130. They kept increasing the angle until I was to exhausted to continue. Then they told me that my pulse needed to get to 170 or 180 to tell anything, so all that for nothing! I could have told them that my pulse would never reach that level if they had just bothered to ask. Needless to say I was more than a little upset by the whole thing. I hope yours went better than mine.
I like my family doctor.
I went to him one time and said my chest had hurt when I was running.
He said, "Did you stop?"
I said "No."
He said "Did it get better or worse?"
I said "It got better."
Then he said, "Well, you didn't die so you are probably alright."
I like that kind of doctor!!! |

Thank you all again for the well wishes. It really makes one feel good. I have to share this with you all though, the nurse that was administering the drug that sped up everything (least wise it felt like it) told me, "Don't worry, I was on the code team for several years and we've got a crash cart right behind you. I'm great at CPR", then she winked at me. I said, "You're kidding, right?" Then Nancy even busted out laughing, she said my voice changed like I was ready to jump up and kill something or somebody. Dennis Miles had told me I should wear that big knife he made me, (Ha), I'm kind'a glad I didn't take it now. I might have made the National News by frightening a VA facility.(LOL) |

Well we just got the results of my tests. The doctor said the echocardiogram was normal, but wants me to follow up with a cardiologist because there was some question about the chemical stress test. Apparently they saw some discrepancy in the film of my heart when the nuclear portion of the film was taken. The general concensus is that I was too big for the camera (LOL), or that I moved somewhat during the film. Never mind that the idiot tech forgot to tell me when the test started (Duh). Anyway, the doctors felt at this point that my heart is good but they still want me to see a cardiologist to evaluate the test results. As far as Nancy & I are concerned, we feel that I'm okay but we have made an appointment with our family doctor who is also a cardiologist. We wanted to let you know everything seems ok. Thank you for all of your concern my friends. Sincerely Mike |

Please do follow up, too. It's something to be taken seriously. We had a guy code on us yesterday while exercising, in spite of the fact that his cardiologist had cleared him. So, follow up and follow up quick! We couldn't do without you. |

Actually what we're going to do is try a cardiac care diet, where we eat 6-7 very small meals/day, keeping out salt, white sugar & flour, and then trying not to eat after 7PM. And I'm drinking one glass of wine, beer, or whiskey before bed. They feel it clears out the arteries, unless it's a 32 oz. glass. (LOL) |

figured i better write this before i start on my 32 oz. whiskey (LOL). My cardiologist said 'He's sure there's no blockage.' Now i feel better, at least before this pain in my gut hit(ha). MORE WHISKEY NANCY!!!! (just kidding), really. But Nancy's thinking my Gall Bladder might be acting up. Boy, I hit 60 and suddenly I feel like I'm falling apart. |

Well, if that's the case, I guess my heart should be in great shape after last weekend at Fort Dobbs. I had Canadien beer and French wine, and the Jaegers had some really good Cognac! It was a fine time.
60? Haven't seen that is some years. I can still run as fast as the young ones when somebody is after me with a musket. |

Not so sure 32 oz. is the right amount, - but some beer or wine (ugh) on a daily basis will do you good. |

Why, what's the matter, MG? Not a wine enthusiast? How about a glass of fine Port? Seamus and I enjoy that greatly while sitting around a campfire. Warms ye through and through.
Of course, on a hot, muggy July evening, there is nothing better than a cold mug of Yuengling Black and Tan, right out of the cooler. Mmmmmm......
Hey, Mike.... 60 is a great age! As long as one can ignore the aching joints......... |
