I just saw the movie The Lady in the Water last night. Anybody else seen it?
I just couldn't help thinking that the entire movie was one HUGE ego trip for the writer/director. Anybody else think so?
Also interested to hear if anybody liked the movie. What did you think was good about it?

| I have not seen it yet Red as I heard it was not very good. Still, I should give it a try as I usually do not go by what critics say. |

I may have heard of it but I'm sure I've never watched it...is it the one about the handyman & the gal in the swimming pool? If so, the trailer didn't look very impressive, so I've never seen it, sorry. (Chick-flick? ) |

Yes, that's the one. But if you thought the trailer was unimpressive, you should seen the film. Then you'll know what truly unimpressive is!
Rather than a chick-flick, I think it was a highly over-wrought wanna-be fairytale, aimed at a younger crowd. My husband's high school students raved about it; all the adults I know who have seen it think it's horrible.
In my opinion, it gets real boring, real fast. Plus, there were two things that I found really, really, really annoying. (1.) The only completely unlikable character in the movie is a movie critic who's always harping about there being no imagination left in films; (2.)the director casts himself as a writer whose work is destined to change the world. Can we say ego trip? The whole movie was like one big "screw you" to critics who might not like the movie.
Anyway, end .
I wouldn't recommend this movie, in case you couldn't tell. |

Thanks for the info, Red! You saved me four dollars having to go and rent it. It looked like it would have been a good movie but I have heard many people talking against it. |

I saw the trailor and said, "Nah." So I really haven't cared to see it either.
I cast my vote with Obi except only one difference. "Teen" Chickflick. |

I've always thought that the first pre-requesite of being a movie critic was not knowing anything at all about what makes a good movie. |
