Just came across a cartoon version of LOTM. This one was released in 1975. Names I recognize are Casey Kasem (Unas) and Joan Van Ark (Cora??). It is definitly a different version--happy ending.
It was part of a box set that also includes BLACK BEAUTY and GULLIVER'S TRAVELS.
I thought it was pretty cute. The animation, especially the running scenes, reminded me of the old "Scooby Doo" cartoons, which also feature the voice of Casey Kasem (as Shaggy). Concidence? I think not.
Something funny: did you notice all the repeated "filler" scenes? The same deer leaps through the same forest about four times, and the same poor Indian brave gets shot in the arm at least twice. It's definitely from a time when Hanna-Barbera was churning out kids' programs by the dozens. I think they cut corners a lot, but hey, kids never notice. Or at least I didn't when I was a kid.

I wonder why they would do Uncas so much injustice. Casey Kasem?! C'mon!
The cartoon did have that "Scooby Doo" appeal to it but it was worth seeing. Didn't like that ending though. That invalid school girl had to running after Uncas just as he set out to find me!
I live in my own little world - but that's okay, they know me here!
