Has anybody else seen this yet? To me it was: Overhyped, overlong, & underdone. I think knocking about an hour off the running length would have improved it tremendously. That being said, it did have some great scenes and a surprise or two before the end. IMO, the 1st one is far and away the best of the three.

I'm seeing it tomorrow morning. (Matinee showings fit the grad student budget best!)

Everyone I know who's seen it agrees with you, Obi. I actually don't have high hopes for it myself. The third movie in trilogies always seems to fizzle out these days. Spiderman 3? LAME, if you ask me. Whatever happened to great three-quels, like Return of the Jedi? (Totally my opinion, by the way, and no one has to agree with it.)

Will report back after I've seen Pirates.

I saw it last night. While I did enjoy it (just seeing more of Cap'n Jack Sparrow is a treat to me!), it does rank 3rd in order of preference, with #1 being #1. There were some funny places, but none as great as the rolling cage-ball in #2.

I'm glad I went, as it does close out the story. Yes, the ending was a real surprise. As with the second movie, be sure to sit through all of the credits. There is an added little scene at the very end of them that you won't want to miss. Obi... did you see it? If not, you can PM me and I can tell you what it is.

I always enjoyed all of the Back To The Future movies, #1 & #3 of Raiders, and #1 & #2 of Star Wars... couldn't stand those teddy bears in #3!

Awwww, I love the Ewoks! And Jabba, the Rancor, Sy Snoodles . . . I could go on, but I won't. Then you'd see just how much of a dork I truly am. I think I only like Return of the Jedi best of the original Star Wars movies because I saw it when I was really young. I was a huge fan of "The Muppet Show" and "Fraggle Rock" at the time (bet you couldn't figure that last one out ), and all those critters in Jedi just looked so real to me. I used to cry and hide my eyes whenever the Rancor came on screen. It's one of my earliest movie memories, so I guess that's why I like it so much.

Now for Pirates 3.

I actually really liked it. It was an appropriately epic (2 hr. 45 min.!) end to the tale, I thought. There was definitely some silliness to it, but I can't say which parts I didn't like without spoiling the movie for those who haven't seen it yet. I'll just say that I found the Calypso storyline a bit--by which I mean a lot--tedious.

Another thought that kept recurring to my twisted little mind? That Tia Dalma sure has one h*ll of a case of crabs!

Yeah, I don't really care too much for 3part movies unless they are as good as the first. The first is 98% of the time better. Rarely do you see part 2 that blows part one out of the water. Saw it happen one time and it was so long ago that I can't even remember the name of the movie.

BTW - absolutely HATE Rocky movies - all of them. Can't even stand the soundtrack!

Haven't seen Pirates 3 yet, but will do so asap.
I have to agree with you WW...can't wait to see Capn' Jack Sparrow. I Johnny Depp. He just gets better and better looking as he gets older. I could just him if ever I saw him in public. (One can dream)
Anyone remember 21Jump Street? What a mouthwatering hottie he was! And still is.

I live in my own little world - but that's okay, they know me here!

OMG! Once again, we are in complete agreement about something!

The only trilogy which comes to mind which is consistently great throughout the whole 3 parts is Lord of the Rings But, considering that the whole thing was filmed basically as a single movie, that's not so surprising.

So Obi has good taste after all!
Lord Of The Rings was a really cool trilogy.

Now all you need to do geezer is admit LOTM is a chickflick and we're all good!

Keep trying, Light, keep trying! But methinks even the mudpit won't change his mind.

Light, we all know that LOTM ISN'T a chickflick. The great majority of the posters here admit that; just look at your poll! Yup, Red, you're right.

POTC3 AWE or in everyones elses world Pirates 3. What can I say. Heart wrenching, a little over dramatic, perfect, and holds you till the end. Missed the after credits scene, but was able to make up for it. Ugh I want to say more, but I can bet someone here hasn't seen it.

There are easier things in life then trying to find a good guy..... Nailing jelly to a tree for example.

I am not a big fan of these movies. I saw the first two on DVD when they came out and they were okay. First one was the better of the two. I suppose I will see this one when it comes out on DVD but not in any hurry. My hubby likes them a lot but just not for me. Not a big pirate fan I suppose. To each his own.

I liked them but have to say part I was the best. Yet again! Part II was so-so. Davey Jones was overdone! And Part III - once again. I stand in agreement with Obi!

And LOTM is a CHICK FLICK!
