Yep!
As mentioned in this thread, an older version of The Last of the Mohicans - this one faithful to the novel as written by Cooper - is finally, after 36 years, being released on DVD. It is a 5 hour, 2 DVD set, of the 1971 BBC LOTM - shown here in the U.S. on PBS as a part of the Masterpiece Theatre series. Over the years, many, many E-mails have been received here asking as to this version's availability, and, from time to time, it's come up on this very board. A very popular production! Well, it's here now - or will be, come February 13th - and you can purchase it through our Mohican Press Bookstore.
However, before you do that, try your hand at winning a copy for free! We have 5 copies - plus another 5 of the Hanna-Barbera animated version - that we will give out for free on Valentine's Day, courtesy of Koch Vision! All ya gotta do is go to DVD GIVEAWAY CONTEST, right here on the web site, and send an E-mail. [FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS!!!!!!] 10 winners in all!
Hey, it's free ... really ... it is ... OK? Trust me ... it is f-r-e-e!

Rich, Thank you so much for bringing this offer to us!!! This was one of the better productions made. Of course where would we be without the version by Daniel Day-lewis and Madeleine Stowe? (LOL) My good friend Mark Baker was telling me once how fast of a study Daniel Day-Lewis was when Mark taught him how to load & fire on a dead run. Reckon Mark's a good teacher after all, eh? Yes, I will definitely post the winners here. After the deadline, I will print out all the qualifying entries, "put 'em in a hat," and then randomly draw the 10 winners. Each winner will get an E-mail, plus I'll post the list here for all to see.
A little problem ...
It would appear [Dancer? Kate? maybe others?] that at least a couple of you entered, but your entry was not received. This is probably due to my server, which has massive amounts of anti-spam stuff installed. That can cause me troubles by eating up good E-mail at times.
So ...
A confirmation E-mail is sent to each entrant letting you know your submission was received. If you entered [properly] and did not receive a confirmation within a reasonable time frame - say, 24 hours - it was probably eaten up server-side and never made it to my PC. In that case, send me a PM right here through the board and I'll provide an alternate E-mail address through which you can re-enter. Sorry for the glitch!!
In short: No confirmation? Send Private Message! |

Hi Rich:
I posted my answer to the question for the DVD of the Last of the Mohicans yesterday, but haven't heard from you. So I'm sending it again.
********** played Hawkeye in the 1936 Version of the Last of the Mohicans. I had the opportunity to watch it on TV this past week end.

Maritji you shouldn't have given away the answer in this thread. You just cut down on your chances of winning. Some may now enter who did not know the answer or couldn't be bothered to look it up and enter. Oh, well too late now. |

It's alright, Margie. Anyone can look it up on the internet and easily get the answer. I feel pretty safe in saying that Rich planned it that way. I don't think you've diminished anyone's chances of winning.

Hey guys & gals!
The 10 DVDs are sitting here taking up precious space in my tiny, little domain.
Right now - remarkably - if you have entered, you've got about a one in two chance of winning!! That's right, hardly anyone has entered.
I'm telling you, it's free! |

OK - final reminder ... Deadline is February 13th ... just a few days away. If you want to have a chance to win [currently now down to 3:1 odds] you have to enter.
Again, if you don't get a confirmation of your entry, then I did not receive it at my mohicanpress addy. You might be safer sending me a PM at this point.

Woo hoo! Call me weird, but I'm excited about this cartoon LOTM. I love animation. I even considered going to school to be an animator once, but that was a long time ago. And get this: I thought I wouldn't make much money animating, so I decided to become . . . what? A professor. Hmmmm. That wasn't very well thought out, now, was it? |
