This is a novel that's scheduled for release on 1/30/07. The author is Barbara Hambly, who wrote the wonderful Benjamin January series of historical mysteries set in 1830s New Orleans. (She also writes SF/fantasy-type stuff, which I pay no attenton to.) I don't know anything about this forthcoming book except what I read on Amazon.com, which is that it views the Revolutionary era through the eyes of Martha Washington, Abigail Adams, Dolley Madison, and Sally Hemings. Give us a month or so after the release date, and Wilderness Woman and I will review it for you!

I dearly loved her 1st novels, but then I really like fantasy & scifi. The Darwath Trilogy & then The Ladies of Mandrigin* are 4 of my absolute favorites, re-read many many times.
*not sure I spelled that correctly...
Howsomeever, as the years have gone on, each succeeding novel by BH seems less interesting to me. Maybe it's me (nah!); maybe it's her... |

Ooooo! Ooooo! You've certainly gotten my attention, BW. This sounds like it could be very good. I am not familiar with this author, as I don't read SF/Fantasy, as a general rule.
Don't hold me to that "month from release" deadline, though. It will probably take me much longer than that to get to it. I will, however, look forward to reading your review! |
