If anybody has an extra 55 million laying around, then you can buy Chimney Rock. Wouldn't that make an unique gift for the person that has everything.

Love,
Kay

Kay you beat me to it. I was going to post it, along with the suggestion that you hold a raffle to raise money so we can buy it hahahaha! If anyone could do it, you could! With Kim's help of course.

Well, we could have a raffle, but I doubt that even Kim could sell 55 million raffle tickets. She's good at selling, but I guess that's asking a little too much.

Love,
Kay

Sound to me like it is time for a campaign to the GOVERNOR!!!! Remember he was the one who spearheaded the purchase of the Dupont State Forest as Attorney General at the time!

Interesting. I guess I thought Chimney Rock was already a State park.

No, it has been private property for many, many years. A State Park would be a good idea!! I am very suprised that the Morse family has decided to sell ...

I'm sure sorry to hear about this! I can only hope that it is either acquired by the state parks system or that whoever buys it isn't just a greedy developer who won't appreciate the beauty of the place.

I am so saddened by this news. I have spent my life hiking that area. I pray that it is not developed.

How sad

Hmmm, I wonder if the Huron Village area is included in that? I know the set is gone, but like Lakes James, there are still shots from the movie that would be fun to see. The view over the Sachem's shoulder, the rock Hawkeye shot Duncan beside, etc!

We tried to find the site of the Huron village in June, and it has disappeared. Nothing but trees on the entire mountain side. And the trees planted on the site of the fort at Lake James have grown almost as high as the trees which weren't cut.
