Something totally new for the Gathering this year! We have scheduled a tour of Blue Ridge Motion Pictures in Asheville. This is the place where the waterfall scene was filmed!! Ok, we probably won't see a waterfall there, but we will tour the studios and hear about the filming of LOTM and other movies the studio was involved in, such as Patch Adams. This tour is scheduled exclusively for us on Thursday, June 15 at 4pm. Those of you who have been to the Gathering before know that we should be done at Chimney Rock in plenty of time to do this. The good thing is that Blue Ridge Motion Pictures is located just around the corner from Spirits on the River, so we will have less than a mile to travel after the tour to go to dinner! The tour will last from an hour to an hour and a half.
$$$ Only $5! We will pay at the door, so don't worry if you've already registered and sent in your money. Just make sure to have $5 in cash with you that day.
Those of you who have registered, please let me know if you are interested in this tour so I can give them a headcount. Email me at wncsteph@aol.com to sign up.
Those of you who have not registered yet, please do so soon! The Nolichucky and Chimney Rock Park are awaiting our final numbers and I need to let them know something by Monday May 8, a week from today.
If you are serious about coming to the Gathering but are unable to register immediately, please email me to make arrangements.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in June!

Way to go, Steph! Very innovative & a nice touch! Be careful ... you'll soon become obsessed!!!
On another note: I ate at Spirits on the River last Thursday. Perhaps, it was simply because I was the only one there, but the food seemed as if it received a little bit of extra attention. It was scrumptious ... every bite. I had the buffalo tips over wild rice with tomatoes & the like thrown in, grilled trout, Indian fries [sweet potato], and squash ... not to mention the fry-bread/strawberry ice cream sundae to top it off.
Flip seems about certain it'll be there - still - come June! |

Ok my mouth was watering as I read about your meal, especially the part about the fry bread ice cream! YUM! We are putting a special note in the Program Guide to save room for dessert!!!! I'm glad to hear Flip feels like they'll still be around. It works out perfectly for us to go there right after the movie studio tour since they are about a mile apart. SOTR has become such a Gathering staple, I can't imagine a Gathering without it.

Geez!!! You just had to torture us and make us think about that delicious fry bread dessert, didn't you??? If I don't eat anything else at SOTR, I will be having the dessert. That is a must have!!!

Ahhh, Steph. I'd LOVE to see my smurf cousin again. I just brought my new heart and self back to the board too late. Vacations (Betty's) have to be put in the previous November for the next year.
Bad timing. As to changing my mind, I'm discovering it's hard to change a mind when (1) you can't find it (2) you don't remember what the ORIGINAL thought was and (3) what were we talking about again?????????? |
