Ye who have read Volumes I and II of the Chronicles will remember me cousin, Ossian Gunn, the poor poet from the far northern regions of the Highlands of Scotia, the one who writes such lovely and interesting doggrel and drivvel!! Following is a poem I would share with you, from Ossian's quill...slante'...pax Aye! Malcolm

All that 18th Century Stuff
by Ossian Gunn, the Poet of Caithness
May St. Andrew (X) bless this poor poet's efforts!

Flintlocks, pistols, powder, sword,
Trekking miles that make you tough.
Shillings, pounds that we can hoard.
All that 18th century stuff!

Coats of wool and waistcoats red,
Black tricorns and wooly muffs.
Linen stocks, wigs on the head.
All that 18th century stuff!

Clouts and longshirts, beaded mocs,
Drinking songs and language rough.
Wampum, leggins, rifle locks.
We love the 18th century stuff.

Muskets, knives and tomahawks,
Lace at throat and lace at cuff.
Lenape, Shawnee, Iroquois, Sauk.
All that 18th century stuff!

Kilts and belts, hose and breeches,
Regiment facings: green and buff.
Doctors with their bloody leeches.
Huzzah to 18th century stuff!

MacWilliam Brothers, Cousin Seamus,
Uncle Quasi and Angus gruff,
Many Flags, Three Tales. Now all are famous.
With all their 18th century stuff.
