Like tomorrow, hopefully!

From Steph, a preview:

Mohican Gathering 2006: THE PLAN!

WHAT: Five days of frolicking’ fun in Mohicanland, also known as the mountains of western North Carolina! We will visit several sites where portions of “Last of the Mohicans” was filmed.

WHEN: Weds. June 14, 2006 – Sunday, June 18, 2006

WHY: If you have to ask, don’t bother!

DETAILS: Tuesday, June 13, 2005: Check-ins begin at the Ramada Plaza Asheville! You may check in anytime starting on Tuesday. If you are not going on the Weds. rafting trip, you may want to arrive a day later. The Ramada folks are aware that we will be coming and going at various times.
We have secured an excellent rate of $64.00 per night plus tax. These rooms were remodeled this year and you can choose from either two double beds or one queen bed. In addition, we will have a Raffle Room where you can come by and browse the items up for auction as our continuing fundraiser for Aerial and for the raffles as well.
A bit of information about the Ramada: it is located off I-40, Exit 44 in Asheville and is an excellent central location for our Gathering travels. It has an indoor/outdoor pool, on-site restaurant, interior hallway entrances, and many other amenities. Reservations can be made starting Tuesday, February 21, 2006 by calling: 1-800-678-2161. Tell them you are with the Mohican Gathering to receive the special discount rate. If you have any questions or need special assistance with your lodging reservations, please email Stephanie at wncsteph@aol.com

Wednesday, June 14, 2005: A Day on the Nolichucky: All day guided river raft trip on the Nolichucky River. River guides will show us places along this river where scenes were filmed.
Breakfast: on your own
Lunch: on the river
Dinner: on your own

Thursday, June 15, 2006: Chimney Rock Park: Hike to the top of the falls and walk the cliff trail where Magua and Uncas meet near the end of the movie.
Breakfast: provided at the park Pavilion
Lunch: provided as a packed lunch
Dinner: Spirits on the River! **Tentative** Currently, the Native American restaurant Spirits on the River is up for sale. We have tentative reservations with them for dinner, but if the restaurant is sold or closed by June, we will have to make other arrangements. We will take this day by day, and if it looks like it will be open for us, we will collect your menu selections at a later date. Dinner is paid for that night individually.

Friday, June 16, 2006: Table Rock/Linville
Sunrise on the parkway at the Green Knob overlook, scene of the opening and closing vistas
Breakfast: Louise’s Famous Rock House Restaurant (cash only!)
Table Rock: Hike to the place where the final scene of the movie was filmed!
Lunch: back to Louise’s Famous Rock House Restaurant
Linville Falls: Eric Hurley (Soldier #2) will join us and describe the filming in this area. Always a treat!
Dinner: on your own

Saturday, June 17, 2006: Dupont Falls/The Movie
Some of the most spectacular waterfalls you’ll ever see!
Breakfast is on your own.
Pack your own lunch to take on the trail with you.
Dinner: available at the concession area of Skyland Arts Theater before the movie
The Movie: 7PM at the Skyland Arts Theater. This might be the only chance you’ll get to see LOTM on the big screen!

Sunday, June 18, 2006: Raffles/Auctions/ Finale Party!
Breakfast: on your own
Once again, the French Broad Rifles are our hosts. We will gather for raffles, Aerial’s auction (always a favorite!) and FOOD! We will be cooking out, please bring a dish if possible.

**SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT** By popular demand, on Sunday, Bo Taylor from Cherokee will join us for our cookout and finale. Many of you enjoyed his presentation when we visited Cherokee in 2004. Now, he bring

Hi Steph,
Just wanted to let you know that I sent you my registration and money last week. I wanted to go ahead and send it as early as possible because I know that y'all have to put deposits down on some of the activities.
Thanks for heading up this Gathering. You're a gem!!!

Love,
Kay

Kay,
Got it last night! So you are officially registered! Thanks to those of you who have sent in your registration early as this will help us make the necessary deposits.
Thanks for all you have done for this Gathering, too. You and Diana both have done TONS toward getting this Gathering put together and it looks like a great schedule!
Thanks again,
Steph

Stephanie, Kay & Rich,

We just can't stay away! Karen & I have reservations for part of the Gathering. We'll miss the first 2 days (but then Karen isn't too keen on river rafting these days, if ya know what I mean )

We're staying in Linville Thurs night and will meet you at Louise's Friday morning. We simply can't miss that hike to Table Rock. Then on to Asheville Fri & Sat nights. So...registration will be in the mail asap!

Can't wait to see you all (I mean, Y'ALL)

YAY! That really is great news! Can't wait to see you and Karen again... although it's kind of funny blaming Karen for not going rafting, eh, Jayne? haha just kidding!
We have received a few registrations but I guess it's time for me to check the p.o. box again. A few other people have said theirs are on the way so it is starting to shape up nicely! Looking forward to seeing all of you!

Oops - didn't mean to look like I was placing blame! Believe me, I don't relish the idea of seeing my dear sister being swept overboard again . Or being the one going over my ownself! Not that I wouldn't do the trip again someday - just not in a duckie next time...bruises, anyone??

Well what I meant was that I didn't think your feelings were too hurt by opting out on the river! LOL Believe me, I understand! No more duckies for me!
