I am just beginning my involvement in living history / re-enactment. My specific interest is in my 5th-great-grandfather James Dutton, Jr. who died October, 1756 in or near Fort William Henry while in service as a Centinel with Massachusetts Provincial troops.

I am looking for good sources of authentic Provincial uniforms of that period. I have done the research to know what I want, but don't have the time or talent to make everything myself.

There is a recreated Mass(Bagleys IIRC)F&I unit based in the midwest. While the HQ, for the unit is North of Grayling Mich, I know they have members in Central Oh and other parts of the midwest.

Thanks for the tip. I'll follow up. (BTW, yes, I've seen combat, and not on TV or re-enacted.)

Hi, Seth: I understood your sig as a quote, although I didn't recognize the source immediately. I was just taking it literally, as a question -- answering by way of a partial introduction. Oh, and I haven't had much luck tracking down the Bagley living history unit, on line. I am moderately familiar with the original regiment's history, although I have no relatives who served in it (that I know of).

Middle of target. Thank you! Ironically, this unit's location puts them right on the road from where I live to my Mom's house in Commerce, Michigan. I probably drive within a few miles of "Fort Bagley". Don't know why a Google search didn't find the site, but no matter. I appreciate the help.
