Sometime ago, and I forget in what context, I think I used an excerpt from this on the Old Mohican Board. I remember saying that it was ... just barely ... within 6 Degrees.

It is way off the beaten trail, but ... Sometime after my Spring/Summer of '93 [spent chasing down the locations used in The Last of the Mohicans used on my Guide Booklet, that later resulted in the creation of this Web Site , but before I actually published it - remember, there was a 4-year gap in-between] I began working on a reminisce of a Great Adventure I participated in [before I really knew that a real adventure was an Advent'cha!!] back in 1974. It was a cross-country trip - "hippie"-style - that shaped much of the person I am today, for better or for worse. It was one of those impact events.

So, I got in touch with as many of the participants as I could - most all of them I had been out of touch with for years - and began collecting their stories of what transpired during those 6 months, or so we shared together - intimately. It was quite the experience, and a lot of fun. I'm talking about the reacquainting phase I had there. In the process, I received journals from the time, audio cassettes, etc. What a surprise! I began writing a tale based on all those combined recollections [borrowing just a tad from a previous hitch-hiking trek "Doof" & "Slick" had embarked upon 2 years before]. It was difficult to do for me, to write about myself in that manner, but with the strong encouragement of one or two "Hussy Bussers," I proceeded ... the results are ... well, ok. I'm not presenting this as some work of art, or anything - some, undoubtedly will find it God-awful!. It's here only as a glimpse into "What I Did On My Summer Vacation." It's not finished - by any means - not even sure it ever will be - for right in the middle, this web site went up, it was put on the back-burner, one thing led to another, and, well ... you know the rest!!

Anyway, the CAST OF CHARACTERS:

Not sure how this will lay out on the page once I post it, but, from left to right, or top to bottom, or some combination of the two ...
Doof, Slick, Amy, Mimi, Scottie, Yonna, Serena, BugaLady, & Roy - their "stage" names!

Madame Mimi's Hussy Bus - through Vermont - there is a long way to go!

Remember, this was a long time ago ...

Rich,
I love what I've read so far! By any chance were you inspired by the Merry Pranksters and Tom Wolfe's Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test?

Can't say old Ken Kesey had no effect ... I did read the book. But, no, not really, Christie ... it was a whole different time & ... well, there ARE similarities!

Hey, Anth ... you know a few of the faces up above, don't you!!! This was all shortly before I met you ... Oh, and please stop using your "signature"! I mean, I appreciate the sentiment, but, it's downright embarrassing!!!!
