... Yes ... sung to the melody of the song of the same name!
Well, lets see ...- No E-mails of the week!
- No photos from Madeleine Stowe!
- No updates from me or anybody else, for that matter!
- No Gathering news or plans!
- No new newfangled features to this Board!
Man ... busy as the web site has been [See: The [Broken] Record ...], there just ain't nothin' happenin'!
Oh, well, I guess a few things: - The guidebook has undergone a [probably] final revision ... after a few more remaining copies are sold, I'll be selling the "new" version.
- And, the Mohican Press Café [Mohican Press Café] is up & running with merchandise [along with all the other shoppes! Storefronts on the Frontier].
- I'm thinking of publishing all the interviews in one book - maybe just a .pdf file - either for sale or for free download.
Sadly, everything new revolves around money. Isn't that the way of the World?!?
And, that leads me to me ... this week, is really an update on little ole me ... for those interested ... those not, stop reading here ... I'll pause to allow you to change channels .... la de da, la de da ...
OK -
The web site is a financial drain on me. I know I've lamented that before, but it's even worse now. Before, I was only supporting 10 kids. Now, I'm supporting them, plus myself independently. I've been working overtime, when available, and cut back on my retirement contributions, but, it's tough ... let me tell you ... so, any purchases of ANY of that stuff REALLY goes a long way. This web site has become a way of life for me, and I don't want to have to let it go ... until the proper time comes ... if it ever does.
But, for the moment, I'm managing ...
I live alone in a 2-room apartment, that has a little deck for me to sit on and gaze at the grass that I don't have to mow!! It's lonely, at times, but in many ways I like living alone. It wouldn't be my choice, but I'm adjusting ... sorta. I live just 2 miles from my oldest son & his family, and about 15 minutes from the rest of the crew on the other side of town. It's now a 10 minute drive to work, as opposed to over an hour it had been before I moved back here in early May. I get depressed, at times ... I wouldn't be human if I didn't, I suppose, but I've got a job, Mohicanland, a roof over my head, and most of the stuff I really need, so it certainly could be a lot worse.
Elaine & I are on fairly decent terms; I've tried to get her to log in here the few times she's stopped by [she has no Internet connection], but, alas ... no go ...
Speaking of computers - - Since I've moved here, I've TWICE had to reformat my hard drive. Twice! I've got the system locked down with every security software known to mankind ... and STILL!!! Anyway, I've got lots of time on my hands, so reformatting was almost fun! Running like a top now. The only problem is that I've lost many an E-mail address ... so, drop me a line sometime so that I may recapture yours!
And that's that for that! Later Gators and Happy Trails,

So if you got a little spare time on your hands, you should think about going to the 18th Century Trade Faire at Fort Loudoun in Vonore, TN. It is Sept 10 & 11, and not a long drive from where you live. And a great event.
The South Carolina Independent Company marches out of the Tuskegee gate.

Rich, Just wanted to let you know that I received the book and I LOVE it!!! Thanks for the autograph bud. Hey gang, if you really want to help Rich and the board out, then please buy his book or visit the link that he gave you to the Mohican Press Cafe for more goodies. You can always just send a donation too. Just think that if all of the people that visit the site would donate at least $5.00 a year, Rich would have no problems. Please consider helping out!!!

Hi Rich! You've been in my thoughts alot these past few months. That no lawn to mow thing does sound good. I finally looked at all of the goodies you've made available, now I just have to make a decision. Like Carter, send me your address and I will send a long overdue donation. Thanks for the update! Wow I had no idea you were going through hard times Rich. I understand exactly how you feel (minus the whole 10 children thing). I have been unemployed for about a month now and am going through a financial hell. My father had to pay my rent for the month but I am a survivor and I know you are too. Things will get better I promise. As soon as I start working again (have a job interview Mon) I will send the site a donation and probably go nutts in the Cafe! I don't want to see this site disappear so I will do whatever I can to help you out! Keep your chin up doll things will work out! |

Honestly, I am not asking for charity. I HATE asking for donations. As I told the person who donated some money last month, they made the difference. We were that close to going "off-air," temporarily, at least. We are paid up now, though, through September 6 ...
Yes, we accept donations, as a matter of necessity, via our PayPal Donations link, or via mail. Address is:
Mohican Press PO Box 123 Marion, NC 28752-0123
That said, I much prefer the proceeds generated from sales!
You can shop for birthdays, holidays, or yourself - for books, CDs, DVDs, etc., through our Amazon.com links at Mohican Press Book Store
Or, for novelty items related to the site, at Mohican Press Café
Or, browse the Storefronts on the Frontier [be sure your browser allows JAVA!]
We make pennies from the Amazon links, a couple of dollars from the Café merchandise ... so, quantity counts!
Purchasing the LOTM Locations Guide Book remains, to my way of thinking, the best way to go ...
Anyway, whatever you can do, whenever you can do it - every little bit helps to keep the Corn Crib full of corn ...
OH, BTW, the newly-revised book - with hyphens - ought to be in this week. Any body waiting for their order, thanks for the patience! |
