If you wos a director of this movie-is there anything you would change? If yes then what exactly. Would you add something or would you cut something out?
I'm kinda' hopeing more than just:"I would let Alice and Uncas to live" Then someone else has to die-it's a movie based by history not a fairytale... -------------------------------------------------------------------- Hawkeye Cora

Oh Gosh, with my imagination... it would turn out something like a soap opera, no joke. Alice lives and she bears Uncas's child, thus continuing the Mohican bloodline. Instead of a big time blockbuster, it would be reduced to a made for t.v. movie, if even that. LOL!
Maybe I should be writing for General Hospital; what does Guza have over me? (Only kidding)
Seriously... I wouldn't change much. As much as I am an Alice and Uncas fan, I like that Cora and Hawkeye were the leads while the youngsters were the underdogs of the script. That's just like me, to usually root for the underdog.
I had posted this elsewhere but... I can't say that I would have wished for a different ending. The tragedy of the film is what left a huge impact on me. If it had a happy ending I don't believe I would have appreciated the story as much, and it wouldn't have stayed with me as it has. I truly loved how Uncas and Alice died side by side in such a haunting and powerful climax. I only may have liked a little more interaction between the two throughout the course of the film; just to see something more develop between them before their amazing finale.
Hope I kind of touched on your topic there.

Vee-It sounds fun if it vould be like a serie or something.Like " A Litlle house in prarie"or what that name wos. That we could actually see Alice's and Uncas or Hawkeye/Cora's children growing, their usual family life and stuff like that. There's just so much more we want to see... --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hawkeye Cora

Hmm..interesting topic. I would say I would like to extend the last part a bit..like show what happened to Cora and Hawkeye..I know Cora most probably stayed ..but like what really happened to the both of them.. If I'm not wrong..last of the mohicans is fiction...yeah..it's based on history..but the whole story is mostly fiction.so no one has to die! But I agree with Vee..I wouldn't change the ending for anything..because the death of Uncas and Cora really sets the whole tragedy going..and I love the bittersweet ending..their bodies lying side by side..And definitely more scenes of Alice and Uncas...show and elaborate how their relationship developed...well..more looks between them would do!.. And I won't make them the main characters too..because Daniel and Madeleine did a great job....and because what I love about Alice/uncas story is its subtle potrayal...you really have to look out and concentrate on every of their nuance and expressions and actions...and because it's so'barely-there'..i loved it!..but definitely an increase in interaction betwwen the both of them. Oh..and something i always wondered.. was alice buried with uncas? And was ching and hawkeye throwing their ashes??aNd if they were ashes..were they only uNCAS? ..so I would elaborate a little on whether Alice and Uncas were buried together or what. |

The movie is pretty darn perfect in my opinion! I love everything about it. The only thing I would add is that deleted scene of Uncas and Alice under the falls!! Oh how I wish I could see that!

Lurking Huron 3088: If you read the script available on the website, it provides an interesting look at what the movie was originally supposed to look like, and what it ended up being. There are quite a few deleted scenes and lines of dialogue that would really have enhanced the movie had they been left in.
To answer your question, in the original script its mentioned that Alice and Uncas are buried. Cora prays as she looks upon Alices grave and Uncas has a burial platform (whatever that means - an indian tradition maybe). Check out the script, its really cool, and makes me hope that if ever a better DVD is released, they'll add these deleted scenes! |

The only thing I would have changed was the "Kiss"--it would have become more than just a kiss! |

I think it is the bittersweet medicine that LOTM offers that rarely grows old...death, hope, despair, pain, joy, freedom. salt of the earth emotions that you can identify with time and again. its a question of balance that i dont think i'd try to change! |

Everything is perfect like this. If just a simple thing is changed, the result is not the same. |
