I don't really think they will look good together..but guess I'm biased as I love the Jodhi-Eric pairing.. but it will seem a little strange though.You think?

I think the cast was matched perfectly...Uncas and Alice made a great pair and Hawkeye and Cora matched perfectly.
I think Jodhi had a more difficult role to play and so did Uncas...also Magua. I think (only my personal opinion) it's harder to play out the roles of the silent ones. Magua has so many great facial expressions...they seem like they change with each passing thought that goes through his head.
But back to the subject...I also think it would seem strange to have cora and uncas matched up. |

| The Uncas/Alice story has a beautifully pure, sweet, and innocent quality to it. Madeleine lacks the innocent quality Jodhi has, so I don't think the pairing of Madeleine/Eric would work. |

| I agree totally about madeleine lacking that innocent aura.she's too jaded..I think jodhi also has that fragile quality that matches eric's strong,silent strength perfectly..their pairing has avery unique touch to it.. |

I can't see Uncas and Cora together. Hawkeye and Cora had such powerful chemistry, and they balance each other perfectly.

Yes, Cora is a WOMAN, mature and all, while Alice is still a girl (Cora looks at least 10 years older than Alice).
If Alice had not died, in a few years she might grow to be a strong woman as Cora. |

I doubt it. Alice represents the kind of decorative, helpless female who was regarded, unfortunately, as the feminine ideal in those days. She'd be totally useless in an emergencency! I think that Cora, at Alice's age, would be infinitely more alluring and spirited.

I got the impression from the book that Cora had always been spirited. It's been forever since I read LOTM, so I can't be certain. Anyway, I don't think people personalities change that much- in essentials. Alice may mature, but she'll never have Cora's "fire". Some things you're just born with. |

I think comparing alice and cora..is like comparing chalk with cheese..they are both very different..cora is definitely a much stronger character..an admirable at that..alice is much younger..and in ways could be seen as weaker..
but as what she would be if she didn't die..well..no one knows..
but i thought at the last scene when before she looked at magua...it was a turning point in her character...she was no longer a scared little schoolgirl.
haha..this topic is about imagining uncas ands cora as a couple and we are off-tangent...but it's good fun!
I would say based on uncas's character in the movie..he won't fall for cora 'cos i think he chose alice 'cos they were kindred spirits in a way...they have a quieter quailty to them..i think this was discussed in another topic...and alice has a certain gentleness |

Both sisters have special qualities on their own. Cora is fiery in her strength and conviction, while Alice is like fragile flower and needs protection.
Hawkeye and Cora suit because they are quite similar in character. While Uncas is the strong,slient type, and was probably attracted to Alice's own quietness.
Though, Eric and Madeleine seem like an unlikely pair, It won't be too bad I think anyways if they were paired together. It will just take a little getting used to, but I like the ending of the movie, however tragic. |

I wouldn't like them much as a couple. I just love Uncas and Alice together so much! They are just so caring for eachother and I wouldn't get the same feeling if Cora and Uncas were a couple.
