I wasn't sure where to post this Rich, so if it is in the wrong place, will you please move it to where it should be. I was going to title it "Cancer victims", but felt like "survivors" would be better because none of us should ever feel like we are victims to cancer. We need to fight and we can win!!! I know that there are some on this board that have to deal with cancer through family members or are even going through it themselves. I don't know your names, but I have prayed that all of you have the strength to fight this terrible evil. I had cervical cancer about 18 years ago. I was lucky that my doctors caught it early enough so that the only thing that it took away from me was the ability to have any more children, but the Lord blessed me with one child who is the light of my life. My husband had to battle prostate cancer a couple of years ago, and through prayer and some very good doctors, he won his fight with that cancer. Now it seems like he has one more fight to go through. His doctor is concerned about some of the tests that he had to have the other day. He thinks that Bill may have colon cancer, but they won't know until he has a colonoscopy. That is scheduled for this week.Since I am a believer in the power of prayer, I would appreciate any of you adding Bill to your prayers along with the other wonderful people of this board that are going through the same thing. I am praying that this isn't cancer, but if it is, then I just pray that the Lord gives Bill the strength to fight it. Thank you for listening. Y'all are the BEST!!!
Love, Kay

Kay, I for one, believe that to face such a powerful adversary as cancer, and survive certainly qualifies as "The Meaning of Life". I shall keep Bill in my prayers, please continue to have faith.

I'm praying and hoping for a good result for Bill next week!!
Take care, both of you, Love, |

My mother, Judy, was diagnosed with cancer in early 2000. It was lung cancer caused from her smoking for a very long time. Unfortunatley, my mom didn't make it. She died December 30th, 2000. She was my best friend, and it was the hardest thing I've ever had to go through. I remember how guilty I used to feel. You see, I wasn't there with her the night she passed away, I was at a friends house, so when I came home, I had to go straight into the room and say my good byes to her. It was so upsetting, I couldn't even cry I was so shocked. But the truth is, since time has gone by, I've been healing and growing from the experience. God works in mysterious ways, but I know that her dying and being with God was a lot better than her going through the intense amount of pain she was going through. Thank you for this topic, it really touched me. --Nora |

Nora, I am glad that you brought this topic to the front again. I am so glad that you are recovering from the loss of your mother, and are doing well.
But, Kay... did I somehow miss the outcome of Bill's test? Are you willing to tell us what happened and how he is doing? If you prefer not to make it public, would you PM me? |

Nora, You are a very special young lady. You are dealing with the loss of your mom alot better than I ever could. You know that if you ever need a friend, I am here for you!!!
WW, I am so sorry. I never did tell y'all that the tests came back negative. He doesn't have colon cancer. Thank you for asking about Bill. my daughter-in-law is recovering well from her mastectomy. She still may have to have radiation and chemo. It still up in the air right now, but she should know something this week.

Since I'm pretty new here, I'd never seen this thread when it originally 'aired.' My wife was diagnosed with colon cancer on 28 March 2003 (stage 3) & had colon resection surgery exactly 4 weeks later. Then, of course, she had to go through 6 mo. of chemo. What a thrill. Now, she has been cancer-free for 3½ years. Woot! Kay, I very glad that your husband missed out on this 'fun.' Obviously, not an easy time, but the main thing about cancer, I've learned, is that it's so freakin' inconvenient!
For those of you who know about this surgery, my wife sees no humor is my description of her as "the lord of the ring."

Obediah, count your blessings and thank God every single day that your wife is still with you. I was not so fortunate.

I just got a call from my sister and a long time friend of hers just died from pancreatic cancer. They has already said their farewells, but it is still hard when somebody you love dies. I can't even imagine the heartbreak that you went through Joyce. Even though my husband had prostate cancer, the doctors were able to catch it fairly early, and his check-ups every three months show no sign of the cancer returning.
