Has anyone gotten any of this snow that's sweeping south? We missed it here in Alabama. All we have is cold rain. Looks like North Carolina will get some.

Here in Chesapeake, VA we started out with a very cold, icy rain late yesterday afternoon. That quickly turned to sleet & by 7:00 p.m., we had these HUGE snowflakes falling fast & hard! It didn't take long for the wet streets to ice over & get covered with snow. The big snowflakes were soon replaced with smaller ones but it kept snowing off & on until early this morning. It looks like we got about 3 or 4 inches of snow out of this storm system. I'm just glad that I didn't have to go to work today, because the streets were really iced over this morning before the sun came out & the morning "rush hour" commute would have been a real nightmare!
Right now it's about 34 degrees outside & the sun is shining brightly. Almost all of the snow & ice has melted off of the streets & sidewalks, except in the shady areas. It's pretty windy, though (blowing out of the northeast at 16 - 23 mph!) so our wind chill is sitting at about 24! Our local forecast is calling for another storm system to move through tomorrow and Wednesday & it's going to be a tough one to call: we've got a 60% chance of "precipitation" tomorrow & tomorrow night & depending on where the rain/snow line forms, we could get several more inches of snow! Less chance of it (30%) on Wednesday & Wednesday night.
Even if we do get more snow, it probably won't hang around long because our temps for Friday & Saturday are supposed to get all the way up to a balmy 55 degrees!
Stay warm, everybody! |

Yep, we here in Eastern NC went to bed with a little sleet mixed with lots of rain and woke up to 2 inches of fluffy snow - No school again for the kiddies. I just love getting up at daybreak and running to the frontdoor in anticipation of some white stuff! You can peer at the blinds and get the feeling "it's lighter outside than usual" and VOILA! - Snow covered cars and trees - I LOVE IT!!
We're supposed to get more tomorrow too! The Crabapple trees just came into bloom last week and we always get a winter weather event soon after that happens!

Well, we haven't had any snow here in Binghamton for a few days, but last night the official temperature was 20 degrees below zero.
Beautiful sunshiny day today with a high of about 12 above. |

I've just seen on the A.M. news that the Carolinas are getting pounded, 6-16 inches of the white stuff. Sachem, GG and the others, what is your status? How are you holding up? It is kinda strange that here in PA we are looking at temps in the 50's tomorrow, we should be the ones with the snow. Strange weather....

We didn't get too much here in the east. We had about 2 inches yesterday, but the precip turned to rain and it has mostly all melted (DRAT). That Low is just churning of the coast, so we've had lots of rain last night and this morning here, but it is supposed to turn back to snow before ending this evening. The guys in western NC (Rich, Eric, my MOM!) should have about 9 inches to a foot or so (Mom had 9 inches and counting at 10PM just nothwest of Charlotte). Seems we always get these weird big snowfalls just when you think spring is around the corner. The snowfall Diane and I were discussing in another thread was in MARCH of 1980! I'll post a pic of the estimated snow totals this storm!

We got, I don't know, 6-8 inches of the stuff. Luckily, it didn't stick to the roads ... even luckier still - it's melting!!! Charlotte, on the other hand, seems to have really been pounded. Asheville got but an inch or two. |
