Day 4 Mohican Games????, sort of. A day for all those forlorn Mohicanlanders in the area to get together AND to present Rich with a few little dittys!

Since the advent of car flags, no UN-Gathering would be complete without one!

Didn't have to be here until 12N - the sun rose each morning with no gatherers to welcome it this year. At no time during the UN-Gathering did we wake at 3 AM, walk a fictitious 2 mile hike, or EVEN break a sweat - Have I mentioned the weather was PERFECT!!?

When we were reasonably sure all those that were coming to The French Broads had arrived, Rich and all were gathered around and Fitz presented Rich with a good beginning to becoming a longhunter. THis idea was born at last year's gathering when after firing a long rifle a few times, Rich was overheard saying "I could get into this!" The amazing Lady Ann took that comment and has fostered, organized, planned, updated contributors, and fashioned a wonderful package to get Rich started.

We made a movie of the presentation, so I have no stills of Fitz's speech and presentation - hopefully we can work something out to get that up on the site somewhere, or at least capture some pics from that.

After posing for a group shot (already posted) we moved to the shooting area. Here Rich is getting some direction and instruction from Bob Penland - President of the FBR and the SWEETEST man for putting up with us girls too and encouraging us all to take a few shots at the targets. Rich is at the far end with Bob (in the left of the image). In the foreground is Mac Schaefer, Stephanie and Christina.

Red arrow points to Rich's *2* shots that hit the same hole. Notice it is a bit wider (more light coming through) compared to *MY* shot at about 12 o'clock in the black center part of the target. On inspection of the target when we were through, there were indeed two shots so close together they almost were one!

This might work ... I uploaded a clip to the server of the "presentation." Courtesy of Diana S., the movie is in MPG format - a standard - and ought to be playable on just about everyone's computer - either Windows Media Player, Real Player, Quicktime ... SOMETHING should play it on your system.

I haven't watched the whole thing ... it was too embarrassing to sit through ... ... but, here it is. Crank the volume.

Soon, I'll put it and a collection of photos on the defunct 2003 Gathering Page ... a little humorous bridge from 2002-2004!

Longhunter Presentation

Just tested it during Preview ... it works ... looks like it runs about 5 and a half minutes. Enjoy! This is for those who weren't there, in particular.

Still overwhelmed ... thank you!

I'm obviously a novice movie maker and I couldn't keep my BIG mouth shut which was RIGHT UP NEAR THE MICROPHONE, so I apologize for the LOUD incurrences in the video.

If I had known you were making a movie, I would have dressed out. I had a complete set of mid 18th century clothes in my car, from the tricorn and sleved waistcoat to the 1758 shoes. I decided not to wear them because I planned to shoot, and black powder can really make a mess of a white shirt. I could have changed back into my street clothes later.

Love the video!!

For me, it is fun to hear the voices of people whose words I have only read. Rich... thanks for the good ol' New Yorkese "youse"... amongst all of the soft Southern accents! LOL!!

Congratulations, again, Sachem.

Sorry to embarrass you, Sachem!!! I guess we did put you on the spot a bit, but oh well!!! Now, everyone start saving money for the loads of film you'll need next year for pictures of Rich all dressed out! Talk about on the spot.... Oh, and Rich, careful climbing Triple Falls in the breechclout! hahaha :-)
Diana.... you just HAD to point out what a terrible shot I am! haha That's okay, I still have some pictures that haven't been posted yet! Seriously, I loved the pics you posted and your captions, that made me enjoy the weekend all over again (and made my co-workers wonder what in the world I'm looking at on the computer!)
