THE HARTFORD COURANT, APRIL 23--> i couldn't find it online so i'll just type it out.

"'Last of the Mohicans' Redux"

Actress Madeleine Stowe has turned down an unprecedented $5 million from 20th Century Fox for her script "The Unbound Captives." The film was to be a vehicle for director Ridley Scott and his "Gladiator" star Russell Crowe.
Stowe refused the offer because the studio did not want her to act in the picture, according to Variety. She already turned down a previous offer of $3 million. The record remains the $4 million New Line gave Shane Black for "The Long Kiss Goodnight."
Co-written with her husband, actor Brian Benben, "the Unbound Captives" centers on May, a woman whose husband is killed by and her two young children kidnapped by a Comanche war party in 1859. May is rescued by a mysterious frontiersman named Tom, who tries to track down her children and free them.

Maybe Madeleine should talk to Michael Mann! And Daniel Day-Lewis would make a pretty good frontiersman who could do some tracking, doncha think? Hmmmm.....

Yes it does! And she really, really, really wants to star in it! To turn down $5 million for her script....? Wow!

Sounds like the story line is quite similar to that of The Last Ride, which tells the story of a woman whose husband is killed and her daughter kidnapped by an Apache outlaw army led by a psycho killer, and she has to unite with her father to track down the outlaw and get her daughter back. I heard that Ron Howard is filming a movie called The Missing, which is based on the book, The Last Ride. Tommy Lee Jones and Cate Branchete play the father and the daughter respectively. Eric Schweig is in the cast too. He will play the bloody bad guy!

Madeleine spoke briefly about this project in our interview with her: We're Talking to You, Miss!

Looks like it is finally underway and scheduled for a 2010 release. Turns out, Stowe will NOT be in the movie. Rachel Weisz will play her role and the movie will also star Hugh Jackman. This will be Stowe's directorial debut; she wrote the script with her husband, Brian Benben.

So, this really will be Madeleine Stowe's, Unbound Captives!

Hmmmm.... this could be very interesting. I do like Hugh Jackman, but I'm having trouble picturing this Aussie as an American Frontiersman. If he can pull it off, he will be a gorgeous one!

And I truly hope that Madeleine can pull it off! She's been working on getting this project going for a very long time.

Oh, oh, oh yes. His American accent was good in the X-Men movies. I can see him as an American frontiersman.

As for the rest of the cast, I love Rachel Weisz, but Rob Pattinson makes me want to barf. Ah well, there's always Hugh.

Good! I haven't seen the X-Men movies. Then I will look forward to seeing it!

Have you ever heard him sing, Red? Fantastic voice!
