Well, that's one malady I can say I do NOT have. |

Never sent one, but I have received a few. And this after I specifically told Verizon to block that feature completely. It took an irate visit to the local store to correct the situation! Why text when you have a phone in your hands? Just call them! |

Fitz, you're not "thinking" ( if that's the right word ) like the school-age IDIOTS this crap appeals to - by TEXTING you can send messages in class, including CHEATING on tests! |

Ahhhhh..... now it's starting to make sense. I guess I could have used that for some of my classes, particularly Organic Chemistry. |

One of the receptionists where I work part-time sends her son & daughter text messages while they're in class. When I asked her if she thought this was a good idea, - (interrupting things) ... she didn't think "it's a big deal". |

I think that texting is just about the worst thing to come along in our society in a very long time.
It:
Creates ignorance --it is changing the way we write, spell words and punctuate sentences. Our English language is going down the tubes.
Causes disruption -- just try to have a decent conversation with someone who is receiving and sending texts! Don't even get me started on phones going off in meetings, movies, concerts, church services, and Doctor's offices! People won't even obey signs that tell them to turn the blasted things off!
Causes cheating -- as mentioned above. I believe that every school should have rules that phones are either left home, in lockers, or checked in at the teacher's desk upon entering the classroom. Any rule-breakers should have their phones confiscated until the end of the day.
Causes death and severe injury -- this is the worst of all... texting while driving. I just don't know what can be done about it. I'll tell you, though, when I see someone weaving around on the road, I no longer assume they are drunk. I assume they are texting. I stay well away from them.
