I feel as though I just lost my second mother.
The lovely lady who portrayed June Cleaver -- Beaver's mom -- has died. Barbara Billingsley became the Baby Boomers' Dream Mom during her years on the late 50s sitcom Leave It To Beaver. She of the nice dresses, perfectly coiffed hair, and pearl necklaces and earrings was always so full of patience and kindness and was the perfect stay-at-home Mom.
Most of the folks on this board are not old enough to remember sitting and watching the show, but I certainly do.
Ms. Billingsley was 94 and lovely until the end.

Yeah, I remember watching June Cleaver and Harriet Nelson. They were so perfect. What happened to women after those days??? |

I was going to post about her sad passing this morning ... beat me to it, WW. "Leave it to Beaver" was my favorite show, by far, and Barbara Billingsby was the quintessential Mom of the day! Many a Saturday night, I took my bath, watched the Beav with all my family, followed by my parents' favorite, "Perry Mason." Those really were the days ...
To this day, I gage the increasing decadence of our society by comparing today's TV fare to "Leave it to Beaver". What a downturn ...
RIP my "second" Mom! |

Women's Lib.
Yes, Harriet Nelson was another good TV Mom. So was Margaret Anderson (as portrayed by Jane Wyatt) on Father Knows Best. |

I totally agree with your opinion on this, Rich. I simply cannot believe the stuff that is shown on TV these days. It turns my stomach. |
