| I am not really a big fan of Facebook, but, a plain old telephone book gives away a lot of info, too. There has been much worry about privacy issues on Facebook - many regarding phone numbers. That's what a phone book or dirctory does. It gives away phone numbers. If you don't want Internet access to your phone number, simply don't put it out there. |

| No doubt personal information can be gathered in several ways. Every so often a huge chain of stores has its' computer hacked. Some employee somewhere "accidentally" releases a list of names & cc numbers etc. I worked for a company that was broken into, and it computers (and other things)were stolen - with Social Security numbers, address, salary etc., - NOT info you want out. - But to publish your personal life intentionally is beyond me. - It's the way things are today, but I'll pass. - There are some folks with "very bad intentions" out there - and if you end up having a problem, you have only yourself to blame. |

Rich is right. If you have a house phone and it is listed in a printed telephone directory, you can be assured that it is available online, along with your address, for free. I use online lookups all the time.
I have neither my phone number or my email address in my profile on Facebook.
Did you know that your birth information is most likely out there on the web, too? I don't know if all states have the info online, but California certainly does. I have looked up my own birth information. It's there.
My late husband's and mother's social security numbers, as well as date and place of death, are out there for the world to see in the Social Security Death index. I wonder if anyone has stolen their identities yet?
That is, I'm afraid, one of the major problems with the computer age. We have no privacy any longer. We are all public, whether we are dead or alive.
