This widow didn't know what the old guns in the rosewood case were worth, or even what they were. Well, they were a pair of engraved Colt 1851 Navy revolvers with ivory grips . . .

Here is the auctioneer's listing, with some very good photos of the guns.

Colt guns

I'm not sure why it states that the final bid was $149,500. It also states that the guns came from the family of Col. Browne, so her husband must have been related. That could explain why they were given to him.
