Yes, excellent article, Winglo! The use of the word, "terrified," about sums it up. |

Yes, it is a good article, isn't it?
Rich, I read your "what's a mother to do" post. It saddens me to hear that you have to put up with some pretty rotten stuff from coworkers. Everyone's life experiences are different and we all view life through our own lenses (it's just that mine are the only lenses that have been correctly ground!!) May you rise above their injustice and be kind in spite of it. And may you find the world a little less difficult to deal with by remembering that "Greater is He that is in me. . ." |

Very good article! Terrified is the proper word to describe how many feel people feel as they see their country being slowly dismantled, piece by piece.
You know, as an American, I find President Obama's and N.Pelosi's remarks about the turn-outs at the town hall meetings extremely offensive. How dare they? Number one-they are wrong that the groups are "manufactured" and number two-so, what if they were? What's wrong with uniting against something so outrageous as this current health care bill!
Last week, my 77 year-old mother called me up on the phone asking when the town hall meeting will be for our area because she wants to go. She understands firsthand all the recent Medicare changes that have taken place and has heard of more "horror stories". She has never been political in her life! Of course, there are none planned for our district. I gave her the D.C. phone number of our (Democratic) representative and she called.
To expect the American people to accept a total healthcare (overhaul) bill before the August break is an insult to our intelligence. Shame on Obama and shame on everyone in D.C. that is for it without fully reading it/understanding it and discussing it with their constituents. Just absurd!
We are all in this together and should continue speaking out. Even though we are the United States, I feel our country is becoming more separated. At least in this effort, we can be "united"! |

Leah, - glad to hear your mother's getting involved. What "these folks" aren't saying is Medicare & Medicaid will have to go, - no separate for seniors. That's where it gets sticky, - because when folks age and are likely to need more health services, that's when the they'll get denied. Whats a true disgrace is the AARP going along with this, - and it's THE LAST thing that's in the own members best interest! ... . BO says if you like your present insurance you can keep it, - he NEVER tells "the rest of the story". When/IF this disgrace passes, health insurance companies will unable to enroll any new members from that date!!! It will be against the law. With no new customers available, - the show's over!!! They'll all end up shutting down - and it then becomes a "single payer system", which is the REAL plan to start with. ... Fight this with everything you have!!! |

I agree with what your post, MG. President Obama was making a speech back in 2003 or 2004 (I can't remember) but in it, he acknowledges that a public payer system is what he wants. I'm sure you've seen it. And, no wonder there's confusion. Finally, bits and pieces of this thing are surfacing and sounding very scary especially forces which will be in place (i.e. companies opting out of providing insurance by paying a penalty of $750) which will ultimately eradicate private insurance altogether. When you put the pieces together, it's a contradiction to what he is "selling."
You know, it's a crime that the seniors who worked so hard and sacrificed in order to survive the Great Depression and WW II are the same ones who stand to suffer the most if this thing passes. No wonder they are livid. This is not what they banked on. Where's the justice?

Even though I find Peggy Noonan a bit too 'moderate' for my tastes, I must say that she did write a very compelling, and well-researched article. Needless to say, I warned everyone here what this guy was all about last year, so his latest power-grab doesn't suprise me one iota.
Now I know that someone out there is going to say, "Gee Sarge, the president said that he doesn't want to take control of the healthcare system, he just wants a 'cheaper' public-option for people to choose from." For those of you who may believe that statement, let me explain some things to you. Firstly, the public-option will not be cheaper, because by definition it will be paid for by public funds. "What are they?" you ask, those would be taxes, the same ones that citizens have docked out of their paycheck. Secondly, with such a large federal subsidy, the 'price' could be kept artifically low, thereby pushing the private companies out of business (but don't worry, for old President 'Barry' and the other politicians will have some form of premium public plan just for them, once the private companies can no longer provide such polices)
The next question that some of you may ask is, "Gee Sarge, if the public-option is going to be so costly, then how will they maintain it?" As I also noted, and long before this article, sustaining such a program will call for rationing of service. What that means is if you are too old to contribute to the public coffers (and are not politically-connected), then you will be encouraged to "take the pain pill" (as Obama said), through a series of 'End of Life' counselling sessions (also part of the 'Obamacare' plan) In short, we will have the same 'Third-World' healthcare currently found in Canada and the United Kingdom (just to name a few)
Going back to the article, I did find some parts of it worthy of comment, and they are as follows:
Quote #1: "The leftosphere and the liberal commentariat charged that the town hall meetings werent authentic, the crowds were ginned up by insurance companies, lobbyists and the Republican National Committee."
Sarge's Notes: Let me get this straight, whenever some band of Cultural-Marxists get on busses chartered by ACORN, and are taken to CEO's private home to protest, then it is called 'Plebian Politics', 'Grassroots Politics' or 'Community Activism'. But when a group of taxpayers transport themselves to a town hall meeting, and pasionately protest a bill which threatens their life, liberty and property, then it is called 'ginned-up', 'extremist' and 'mob rule'.
Quote #2: Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the United States House of Representatives, accused the people at the meetings of carrying swastikas and symbols like that. (Apparently one protester held a hand-lettered sign with a no slash over a swastika.)
Sarge's Note: Someone needs to explain to the 'Pineapple Princess' Nancy Pelosi, that Nazis are actually on her side of the political ailse; and if Hitler were alive today, the DNC would run him as a national candidate. And why not? Hitler was a vegetarian, pro gun-control, against free speech, a vehement anti-smoker and in favor of government control of private industry; all of which are in-line with current Democrat policy and 'group-think'. In other words, Adolf Hitler would have been another 'Dream Candidate' for the DNC, just like President Barack Hussein Obama (AKA- Barry Sotero)
