I hope that she does decide to run in 2012, because it would be nice to have a Commander-In-Chief who is not only worthy of the title and my respect, but to also have a leader that our enemies will fear once again. Also, Lady Munro's favorite tee shirt reads, "Hang on to your lipstick... Palin 2012". (I am waiting for one that says, "Read My Lips, No More RINO's... Palin 2012")

At first, I was surprised, to say the least, and very disappointed ... I felt let down and my initial feeling was that she was "dead" politically. No one likes a quitter.
I still see obstacles, but not insurmountable ones. She is a gritty fighter with many core values similar to my own.
We'll have to wait and see what her goals and plans actually are. Much speculation, right now, most of which is probably erroneous.
One thing for sure, at least she knocked Michael Jackson off the newscasts for a day. |

I'm disappointed with Palin's resignation too, - but "maybe/hopefully" there's something else taking place here, and being a governor was too restricting, - let's hope. . Michael who??? .. Never watched him for even 10 seconds, or listened to anything he did. Life is good, ... ;) |

I liked her but now I just think of her as a "quitter" and I think this will do her harm in the long run if she does have any plans to run in 2012. She should have finished her term as Governor. I never respect anyone who "quits". |

Look guys, I can appreciate how all of you are feeling, but let us take a look back in history. Ronald Reagan spent several years out of public office (1975-1980), campaigning for conservative politicians and building-up an impressive 'IOU Bank' for his 1980 Presidental Campaign. I have a feeling that Sarah Palin is using a piece out of Ron's old playbook, and we will be hearing more from her in the near future. She is a fighter, but she has also apparently studied strategy as well; and besides, she needs some time to 'sharpen her knives' for those on the Left who went after her family (and on that, I truly wish her 'good hunting')

Sorry, Sarge, but I disagree. No one liked her more than me. . .not necessarily for all of her views but because she was using her talents and gifts in a very influential way and getting things done. She was, and I'm sure is, a very competent woman. But, in my opinion she's done politically. You can't just quit. Ronald Reagan never did. He served out his terms before he sat out for awhile. She probably had some valid reasons to quit, but politics is hardball and you have to play it that way. If it's too tough because of your other obligations in life, that's fine. But, by leaving the game, you have made a statement--that you would rather step out of the game than fight. I would never vote for a presidential candidate with that trait. |

Looks like I must agree with Sarge on this one. Let's not forget what happened with good ol' Tricky Dick, oops, Richard Milhous Nixon: after his loss to JFK in the Presidential election of 1960, he and his family moved back to California, when he actually ran against the incumbent (Pat Brown, Jerry's father) for Governor. Pat Brown stomped him by almost 300,000 votes!
Here's what Wikipedia says:quote: This loss was widely believed to be the end of his career; in an impromptu concession speech the morning after the election, Nixon famously blamed the media for favoring his opponent, saying, "You won't have Nixon to kick around anymore because, gentlemen, this is my last press conference."
I remember listening to that speech on the radio! Six years later, of course, he became President Nixon, so, yeah, this sort of stuff happens more than you think... |

Still on-the-fence on this one - and, I must admit, it's a very unfamiliar place to be! |
