Senator Barbara Boxer, the biggest Senate proponent of cap-and-trade and the one who will dole out the billions of dollars on the Senate side if the bill makes it through the House, candidly explained how this works a couple of weeks ago:
There's so much revenue that comes in from a cap-and-trade system that you can really go to a person in a congressional district and get enough votes there by saying, "What do you need? What do you want? You can really help them."
This disastrous bill, which will send energy prices skyrocketing while having no discernible impact on global average temperature will only get worse as even more special interests are bought off at the expense of taxpayers. It's a scam, an enormous tax-and-spend bill concealed in a cloak of green political correctness. The real purpose of the plan is to dramatically enhance the power of Washington politicians by giving them control over vast swaths of the U.S. economy.

I have heard that Obama needs some way to pay for his national health care plan and this Cap and Trade is it!
But, what I've also heard, is that business taxes will be so high that they will be forced to go overseas with their production which will pollute the air even more as China has no standards.
So, we'll be left with no businesses, no jobs, but real clean air!
What is happening to our country??? Have we lost our minds? The jury is still our on Global Warming anyway, but you never hear opposing studies to that effect on the news. |

What can I say, other than to quote the title of Rush Limbaugh's second book, "See, I Told You So!" I warned the 'working-man' Democrats (the same ones who were also screwed under Clinton, but were not smart enough to realize it), that Barack Hussein Obama and the Democratic Party are no good for our country, our economy, or our safety. A good number of these 'mental giants' scoffed at what I said, and then like good little drones, went and yanked that 'D-Lever' on Election Day, alongside of their allies which include the Cultural Marxists, the Subsidized Leeches and the Limousine Liberals.
When these mindless drones loose their jobs as a fallout from 'Cap & Trade' and/or the havoc from the 'Stimulus Law', and find out that the alleged 'green jobs' are about as likely to be forthcoming as the majority of the 'shovel-ready' Stimulus money, they can always get on the government dole. However that money only goes so far, along with all of those temporarily funded entitlement programs. And once the Democratic Party is done murdering the U.S. economy (and the 'working-man' with it) through the 'Stimulus Law', 'Cap & Trade' and Healthcare 'Reform', these drones can still enjoy paying almost $3000/year more for the same amount of goods and services that they enjoy today. Once they eventually 'hit the skids', they better not look to me for help or sympathy, since they helped to create the hell, which they will soon be enjoying. (I have already taken precautions, so that my family will be okay in spite of 'Obamanomics')
Getting back to the subject of 'Cap & Trade', is that all of this is being foist upon us to cause an estimated change in climate of 0.03% of one (1) degree farenheit, by the year 2100.

| The truly sad part is, - this is a absolutely gigantic tax on everyone one, - and especially the lower income folks. BO based his campaign on/about taxing "the rich" - to pretty much pay for everything. He was talking about the income tax at the time - but apparently forgot to mention/explain anything about this, - what a shock. ... People need to realize that BO is fascinated with the European template of government - which is nothing more than huge taxes and government control of nearly everything. This country's very founding was based on trying to escape too much government - NOT expanding it. |

And if you remember MG, the 'rich' was originally (during the campaign of the 'Hope & Change') people making more than 250K/year. Now the magic number has dropped to around 100K/year, and if we give this band of criminals enough time it will drop below 50K/year. It is one of the standard tactics of the Left, 'Death by a Thousand Cuts'.

Mary, I am afraid that like it or not, before all is said and done, we're all going to fall under the Subsidized Leech label.
Paraphrasing the stats here -  - but back in the 60s, only about 20% of our money went toward "social" programs: i.e. welfare, etc. Today, that amount is in the 60% area. What has suffered most? The military, with virtually opposite percentages.
Following that trend - and clearly Obama and Congress will accelerate that process - we are headed toward being a nation of Dependant people with an increasingly weak military to protect us.
Doesn't bode well in my view. And the antithesis of what the Constitution has laid out for us.

Well has anyone thought about the ramifications if ole Al Gore is wrong on Global Warming being caused by man? It should have been a red flag when he ran for President that he didn't even carry his own state. His home is about 20 minutes from mine and located in Belle Meade. His 9000 square foot mansion consumes many times more the energy than the average person's home. And remember Earth Hour back in March? A drive by reported seeing lights on at 9:00 p.m.
What bothers me more though, is the speed at which our Congress is being made to vote on these very important bills with little/no time to read them! My only hope is that we elect people in 2010 who will truly represent our interests. |

Of course Sachem, the plan is to get as many slaves as possible on the Democrat's 'plantation', so as to insure a sizable pool of uneducated and dependent voters. Well Leah, I don't know if he was wrong, but I do know that he (and the rest of the Enviro-Nazis as well) hasn't proven himself as right either. I thought that his home, according to local tax records, was 15,000 square feet; and according to a report on Sean Hannity's show, Gore's home consumes more energy in a month than 10 average American homes do in a year.
