Good afternoon my Mohican Friends,

Wanted to drop all of you a note to let you know that Claude and I were not in the path of any of the tornadoes that came across our state last night. There are now ten confirmed dead in Alabama and many others in the states that were affected by this horrible outbreak of weather.

Karen, I understand that Indiana was also hit. Is everyone ok there?

And, Seamus, Pennsylvania was hit as well. Hope all is well at your house.

Having experienced this type of devastation first hand, please know that all of those touched by this will need a lot of time for healing. Prayers are most appreciated. When you see the pictures coming across the wire and you probably think to yourself, "It looks like a bomb went off", that's exactly what it looks like and feels like. But unless you are familiar with these places before this hit, you can't imagine the full impact of the devastation. So, I guess what I'm saying is please remember these people when you pray, donate blood, support your local Red Cross/Salvation Army, etc.

Theresa,

I saw this on the evening news. Very scary sight. They said an area of about 2000 km was hit, and when I though about that, I came up with an area between my house and somewhere southern Spain. Such a large scale devastation.

I'm glad to hear you're ok, hope everyone else is, and I feel for those suffering in this.

Ilse,

Yes, it was quite an impressive path.

Sgt. Munro, thanks for letting us know about Seamus.

Keneta, I also saw where Kentucky was under some type of warning or other throughout all of this as well. Then when I turned on the television this morning, I saw where North Carolina, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. were under tornado warnings too.

So, I guess when you pull in all of those states you do get a pretty tremendous area, Ilse. Possibly from your house to Spain, I suppose.

We left Indianapolis yesterday around 5:00 p.m. just catching the tail end that went through central Indiana. Must say, it was a bumpy ride. In fact, on the way to the airport we saw the devestation of the last storm/tornado that ripped through there - unbelievable that no one was killed. My thoughts and prayers are with all those in this storm's path.

Theresa,

As Caitlin mentioned, the storms from late Sept. were much worse and caused lots of damage here. Only minimal damage this time despite the really long line of potential tornado-causing weather. I'll let Karen know you asked. Good to hear that you and Claude are ok. Thanks for the thoughts! Jayne

Because, Anthony, this is home. Why do people still live in California...earthquakes. Why do people still live on the coast...hurricanes. And I'm sure that other areas have their freaks of nature and yet people still live there. You learn to adapt and take the precautions necessary. After we experienced the loss of Claude's mother, he was asked many times why he thought bad things happened to good people. We don't know the answer to that question. But we do love our home and that's why we continue to live here.
