Forgiveness is not an emotion. Forgiveness is an act of the will, and the will can function regardless of the temperature of the heart.
Corrie Ten Boom
P.S.: Many of you might not know who Corrie Ten Boom is. Corrie was a Dutch Christian woman who hid many Jews during the war. Once the Germans discovered that Corrie and her family were giving shelter to Jews, they were sent to a concentration camp. Corrie's father and sister died but Corrie made it. Many years later on one of her many travels she encountered the jailor who had tortured her and her family. This man didn't recongnize her but wnated to turn his life around and asked Corrie for forgiveness. Corrie describes the plethora of feelings she experienced ( in her book- MY FATHER's HOUSE) but- in the end she had the grace to forgive this man. I greatly admire Corrie Ten Boom.
