O'Siyo,
it has been along spell since I visited Mohicanland, long before this new formate....
I wanted to say hi (O'siyo) to some old friends out there (you know who you are) & bring you up to speed on recent happenings.
First I finally received my Cherokee name earlier this year. It is Gasaka Soquilla (Gah-sah-kah Soh-kwee-lah), which means "Lighthorse".
My daughter Shannon is now 3 1/2 yrs old, & running "Mr.Mom" ragged
;-)
No wonder I recently found myself hooked up to a heart monitor at the hospital (anxiety attack, but was'nt her fault)....
Had to give up living history (i.e. reenacting) for a spell, too many irons in the fire ya' know.
But now I'm back with a vengance!!
I recently reformed Geneway's Co'y of Butler's Rangers, the green coated "terrors" ("tories") of the Upper Mohawk & dark and bloody ground during the Rev War.
Currently we have about 6 rangers & 1 honest to goodness Mohawk scout!
My persona is that of one of Sir William Johnson's Highland Scots retainers, in between the F&I War and Rebellion. On all of Sir William's & John Butler's private trips to council with the 6 Nations as trouble was brewing in the colonies, I went along with them as an escort. In this way I became intimately familiar with both Butler & the 6 Nations.
When war broke out & those pesky rebels chased us from our homes, I swore vengance & joined the Indian Dept., later transferring to Butler's Corps of Rangers, carrying out raids alongside our Native Allies, sometimes led by Joseph Brant.
My personas name is "Sjt. John Scobie", named in honor of my Highland Scots ancestor (John Scoby) born in Scotland in 1720 & emigrated to the colonies when he was in his 30's.
Anyhow, I hope I havent bored y'all too long, just want fill in my old friends who may still be out there on what this ol' scalawag has been up too.
Speaking of scalawags, its been awhile since my dear friend "Simon Girty" has darkened Mohicanland with his drunken shadow! ;-)
