Another year pass ...
For me, the past year - well, the past couple or three, actually - have had some of the highest peaks & lowest valleys of my life. But here, I'll keep my New Year Wishes related strictly to Mohicanland.
Regardless of your feelings about abortion [the current Lion's Den debate], politics, or anything else, I am grateful for your presence & company here - each & every one. The bond between us all transcends that kind of thing, I would hope. Our reason for being here - in this place - stems from other places.
Long May We Run
So, the landscape changes over the years since '97, but like the seasons it seems that the familiar returns more often than not.
For 2004 I wish for this place stimulating conversation, belly-aching laughs, a GRAND Gathering of the tribes in June, more MacWilliam Chronicles, new faces, blasts from the past, and all of you who currently make Mohicanland one of the places in which to hang your hat.
PERSONAL NOTE: I've been wrestling, still, with reconciliation regarding the July 2001 blow-up. I get to the point where I want to give it up & move on; then I try something subtle, or not so, again. No matter how right or wrong I may have been about that particular issue - no matter how hurt I felt at the time - it gnaws on me that I, too, deeply hurt folks I really care about ... so, I can't really let it go. I can say I will, but I can't ... really.
So, my greatest wish, for this place, in 2004, is to once again see a Soothsayer, or a Twigg, or a Quilt-maker roaming the wilderness or sitting at a stool in Bumppo's. Call me a dreamer, but you can't realize a dream if'n you don't have one.
Happy New Year Wishes to One & All!
See you in June, perhaps?

Rich,
I have been a member of this community for four years now, so I think you know me well enough to know that what I am about to say is not an attack on anyone, and is written with the best intentions....
Two and a half years ago, there was an explosion on this board, the fallout of which, caused a huge amount of pain for a great many people, a lot of bad feeling, and the break up of more than one friendship. A great number of people were hurt, aside from the main parties involved, and every time that you bring this issue up again, it not only causes old wounds to re-open, but it brings in all the newer people who were not involved, it perpetuates gossip and rumour, and it threatens new or repaired friendships.
I am not saying that you should give up on your desire for a reconciliation - not at all - that is a decision for you. However, it is possible to put the past behind you and still leave the back door open. You have made it abundantly clear over the years that you are willing to reconcile, and I am positive that the other parties concerned are aware of that, and will make their own decisions as they see fit. So my wish for you next year, is that you can reconcile yourself to this situation, and accept how things are. Please move on, for your sake, and the sake of other people that you care about, and who care about you.
Aside from that, my wishes for 2004 would be that my son continues to do well, and that I am successful in my attempts to juggle my new job, new life and the demands of my son!! Would kinda like to make Gathering too!!
Best wishes to EVERYONE for the New Year!
Hugs Adele |

Hi Rich and all, I hope that everyone has a happy, healthy, and wonderful New Year!!! I think that one of my New Year's resolutions will be to stay out of the Lion's Den. Like you, it gives me acid reflux, and who needs that??? I don't like to argue about these things. I come to this board because I like the people here and you do let us talk about whatever we want, as long as we are respectful towards one another. That's the way that it should be. BTW Rich, I may not know who or what you are talking about, but I hope that your dreams come true!!! HAPPY 2004!!!!!!!

I suppose at top of my list of New Year's wishes is that the men and women in uniform return safely to their homes and loved ones and that our nation will remain strong.
I wish health and happiness for my family and friends as well.
To my Mohican family, good tidings and great anticipation for a wonderful Gathering in June.
I am truly blessed to have a wonderful husband, great kids, a comfortable home, and to be surrounded by the best friends in the world.
Happy New Year! |

I was roaming the web trying to find the perfect poem for some of my friends for New Year's, and I ran across this and had to share it. We are always complaining about our weight and how we will really lose weight THIS time. Of course, I better REALLY do it if I want to roam them thar hills of North Carolina!!!
'Twas the month after Christmas, When all through the house, Nothing would fit me, Not even a blouse! The cookies I'd nibbled, The eggnog I'd taste... At the holiday parties, Had gone to my waist! I remember the marvelous meals all prepared: The gravies and sauces, The beef "nicely rared". The wine and the rum balls, The bread and the cheese, And the way I NEVER said, "No, thank you, please." As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt, And prepared once again to do battle with dirt, I said to myself (as only I can), "You can't spend a winter disguised as a MAN"! So---away with the last of the sour cream dip, Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip! Every last bit of food that I like must be banished, 'Til all of the additional "ounces" have vanished! I won't have a cookie, Not even a lick! I'll want only to chew, On a celery stick! I won't have hot biscuits, Or corn bread or pie, I'll munch on a carrot, And quietly cry. I'm hungry...I'm lonesome...and life is a bore! But isn't that what January is for? Unable to giggle, No longer a riot! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD DIET!
Oh, to give up cornbread!!! That's gonna be a toughie for me!!!

It's that time of year. Regardless of past differences, past disagreements, or past rancor even....I wish for ALL here and everywhere a healthy, prosperous, loving, peaceful New Year in 2004.
I do. From the heart.
What the next year brings, nobody knows. But if I had MY dreams come true, it would be that, for everyone.

Aw gee, Huggy ... you sure managed to take the joy out of my self-pity session!
No, seriously, actually, in my own deluded sensibility, I do this for the sake of all those you mention. To my way of thinking, talking about it is good - much like it would be for most other problems. Honestly, though it might appear that way, I am not all-consumed by this, but it's there - and I'd love to see it resolved in a positive fashion. Very much so. You know, the old happy ending syndrome? Again, to my way of thinking, being out front circumvents gossip & rumor, not causes it. But, what do I know?
Anyway, I think you know my heart ... certainly, my desire is not to re-open wounds or break-up friendships.
*Sigh*
Anyway ...
New Year's Eve - here - makes me feel like it's time to archive the Board. Remember, waking to a blank, fresh Board each New Year?
Almost here! Be safe, friends! |

Happy New Year everyone! I've come to like and admire several of the fine members of this group although I've only been around a few months. Rich you do an awesome job and I admire your hard work, dedication, and the heart and soul that you pour into this place. May we not take you for granted in 2004!! Theresa, for an Alabama fan you are A-OK! ROFL! Seriously, you are one of the nicest people I know and I cannot wait to finally meet you! I think we will have a blast together!! Wilderness Woman, you really impress me! The more I learn about you the more I admire you! I also love the sense of humor of some of the members here, especially when things get tense. The pet rock thing was great!
The one thing I've learned from the past year is to choose my friends more carefully. Look at people for who they are, not at how you want them to be. I am fortunate to have good friends here!
And my wish in 2004 is that Wes Studi will finally land the big role he deserves!!!! LET THE PEOPLE SAY AMEN!!!!! LOL |

My wish is a safe and happy new year for all and if peace in the world may seem unobtainable perhaps personal, inner peace is not. May you all have peace and kindness in your hearts and may you find love in all the little things that happen each day. For me one additonal wish, that I get to spend a little more time in Mohicanland at the message boards.

Belated Happy New Year greetings to all of my friends here on the Mohican board. To each and everyone of you I wish happiness, health, luck, love, prosperity and inner peace. I also hope that this year brings all of us the opportunity to learn about and from each other, to respect differences, to open our hearts and minds, to search for the beauty and subtleties of the grey areas and realize that not everything is black and white. May all of you find the time to appreciate the little things in life, not sweat the small stuff, and find 2004 full of blessings and opportunities. And while you're at it -- throw back some Ping and party a little! Christina |
