Previous Gathering Report
Moving right along ...
As far as progress goes, very little to report this month. Two contracts are signed - that with Joanne Shenandoah & that with the Biltmore Estate. So, it would seem, Day Three is pretty much in hand!
Most of the rest of the itinerary is status quo. All systems go!
My one concern, still - Coins For Chingachgook. In a perfect world, we'd have the $3000 in hand, and all arrangements would be taken care of already. That's how I'd have liked it to have happened. Then, I could concentrate solely on the Gathering funds, soon to be collected. Not to be. Right now, we've got over half the money in hand or pledged. One problem, some of the money pledged by a certain date has not arrived, even though the dates have passed ... so, I'm not sure where we stand on this. The March 1 deadline stands - much later than I'd have liked, but I'm trying to be realistic here & give this a fair shot to work itself out. Please donate as soon as possible and/or make a pledge ... and make good on those pledges!!!
One other slight change - The Program Guide Crew has decided to charge $1 for the Program Guide this year - payable at sign-up. This way, not only will the costs be covered, but they'll know exactly how many to print up. Only those who really want one will get one.
So, the next step in this process is the real-deal registration ... and that will begin on Saturday, January 3, 2004. Currently, we have a group of about 100 people stating they will be here in June. I hope that is a fairly accurate projection, because the scope of this Gathering is largely based on that expectation. The theater, of course, only holds - officially - 75 people. They will allow somewhat more, but you can see that there will probably be some folks shut out of that particular event.
The Registration Process:
- Be absolutely certain you will be here!!
- Fill out the electronic form, which will notify us quickly of your intentions.
- Proceed to the mail-in forms, fill them out, and mail appropriate payment.
1 - 2 - 3! Easy!
Please note that the forms are not yet on-site! Do nothing yet!
On Saturday, January 3, 2004, the forms will be uploaded to the server & you - if on our Gathering Sign-Up list - will receive an E-mail notifying you of that fact. At that time, and on till May 15, you may officially sign-up to be a participant at the 2004 Great Mohican Gathering - Sixth [sort-of] Annual Event! Will post here, as well, for those of you not on our mailing list already. One never knows when, where, or in what form magic will strike, but each Gathering seems to have had its share, so do consider joining us for this huge, week long, Gathering!
Note on the Nolichucky: No experience necessary, but it does require some stamina!! If the water level is high, rafts will be used and they are not too difficult. If the water level is low, "Ducks" will be offered as an option - those are very tiring!! Either way, it's a memorable & fun excursion!!
Because of that duration, and the many events crammed in, it will also be more expensive than usual. We have lots of people to pay and your early registration will ease that process, so please, once sure you will be in attendance, make your payment just as soon as you can!!
To ease your pain [and increase mine!!! ] we'll allow a two-part payment - 50% due at registration; the other 50% to be paid sometime before the May 15th cut-off date. Of course, you may pay all at once if you can afford to do so. T
