Here in the mountains ... nada. It is getting a bit breezy right about now, and the sky has an ominous orange-grey cast to it, but that'll be about it ... I think.
Heard the coast is getting beat up pretty badly and 800,000 are without power ... |

Wind blowing hard here now. The rain is blowing sideways. Suppose to only get worse. Expecting the electric to go out anytime now. Tree blown down outback but nothing damaged it is stuck in another tree. Calling for about 7 hours of this kind of weather. Winds at 40. Gust suppose to reach near 70. Would say weve had about 4 inches of rain so far and it is now just starting to get bad. Will write again tomorrow if possible |

Good grief Cherie! Take care and be careful! Any news from Gadget Girl? My report is about the same as Rich's. Here in Mohicanland it got cloudy and breezy late this afternoon with that eerie orange glow he mentioned. Then the sunset was a brilliant but spooky orange. I guess we are just on the fringes of the storm. I hope all of you who are in the path stay safe! Keep us updated. Steph |

Thanks for enquiring about us guys!!
One thing that stood out to me about this storm is how LONG it hung around (thanks to its size area-wize). The winds and rain started Wednesday evening, long before the eye came over us at about 1PM Thursday. We had gusty wind (30 mph - 80 mph) for about 30 hours! Typically these things only impact us for about a half a day (Gloria, Bertha, Bonnie, Diana, Dennis1), but Isabel went on and on and on. Bill, I live about 10 miles from the Pamlico Sound and the left edge of a ragged eye went right over us - THAT would be the fifteen minutes when the wind DIDN'T blow!

We are up and running.... Lost power just after posting the last reply. And as of now everything is back on. Was a very long night. We are very lucky though, no real damage to speak of. Although 4 houses down they had a VERY Large tree take out the entire back half of the house. Lots of flooding, down trees thus down power, water is contaminated just north of us. But all is alive and well. |
