As I'm certain a lot of folks will agree, any combination of the above sites would make for a great gathering.HOWEVER, may I respecfully request a day without having to call on super human, fantasy hero powers of energy and strength (I know, I know, stop yer belly-aching). I think the Nolichucky, if chosen as a site, as this year was good to do on one of the first days (fresh meat Mohicanites, ya know). AND respectful request 1a...could we perhaps not have already climbed Mt Everest before having to display our sad, pitiful excuses for fitness in a FOOTRACE for goodness sake. Perhaps the Biltmore segment or the Elk Hunt segment on the day of the Mohican Games, plus they are in general proximity to the French Broad Muzzleloaders site.
As Theresa said, no matter how vigorous or fast-paced or slow-paced...WHATEVER...I wouldn't miss it. Ah HECK, lets do CRP in the morning, Table Rock after lunch and take a bag supper out to Bridal Veil Falls that evening!
Besides there is always Wednesday and Monday to visit other sites and interests and in previous years many took advantage of that fact. One year some of us ran into each other at Unto These Hills (Extremely Moving!!!!) in Cherokee. A day in Cherokee is always a fun day - just make sure you devote the best part of a day to enjoy the museum, shops, and Oconoluftee Village in addition to the outdoor drama.
The itinerary is ALWAYS enjoyed, no matter the order or included location! I think mixing things up every year makes things fresh and fun...yada yada yada...Gatherer #4 reporting for duty, Sir!!!!

Hey, Stephanie!
I was having one heck of a time picking just ONE of these locations/activities as a "favorite" & I honestly can't swear to you which one I finally did "choose." I "clicked" first one, then another, then another, then back to the first one, etc. several times, before finally submitting my final choice...and I just might have been one of the 4 who chose the Nolichucky! AND I WAS IN A DUCK!
See what effects a sunstroke & swallowing river water can have on a gal?!
See you on the River!

O.K. Steph... I have to admit I was one of those who voted for the Nolichucky. I had such a great time, I coulda done it again the next day! If we don't do it again next year it'll be for the benefit of the Gathering as a whole. Which is fine, but I'd miss it terribly. Every time Cherie and I see rapids now we say to each other, "yeah, we could go over that in a fun-yak"! Well... she actually says, "yeah, I could get thrown out of a fun-yak there"! hehehe...

Oh Steph Honey...I was one of them too, but I was in a raft. For my punishment I will surrender my raft seat and take your Duckie, OK? Maybe it was because it was new, but I just had a BLAST watching everybody, and you can believe next time I will have a waterproof camera WITH A ZOOM!!! May be I can catch a few key shots while "swimming"!

Hey Rich, I post a poll on favorite places to visit and now another mysteriously shows up under the heading of Gathering 5 -- what's up with that?! Sorry, just teasing you as I'm sure it's difficult to figure out how to schedule an event and please as many people as you can. Even though I only made it to Gathering 3 so far, as a long time watcher there are certain places that have always been on the itinerary and I think many would be disappointed if they didn't go to: Table Rock for the sunrise; Linville Gorge; Lake James; Chimney Rock Park; Skyville Movie Theater. I think I'm correct in assuming the agenda usually changes from year to year on where to go Saturday during the day. My personal feeling is as long as it's easy to get to the movie theater by Saturday night, I think attendees are happy to be together and share their love for this classic movie. For all it's worth, that's my silly opinion

Okay Marc, just remember you asked for it! Next year when my duckie keeps ramming into yours, remember your vote counted! One thing I wonder, though, if we were to be driving on the same highway, would my car keep following yours and crashing into it like my duckie did to yours? LOL! I do NOT care to find out! Stephanie

P.S. to Gadget Girl: If you are even *thinking* of taking a duckie next year you might want to start working with a rowing machine like right now. If I see that the Nolichucky is on the itinerary, you can believe that I'll be building up some muscle before then! Stephanie

Rich, all these places are SO good, it might be easier to ask people their LEAST favourite place and eliminate that way - I am finding it very hard to choose, particularly since I have missed the new places you went to this year....

But Steph... I never really minded you ramming into me since that was one the main things I relied upon to get dislodged from the rocks!

I don't see this as a problem considering you must be a very responsible driver. You even missed parts of the Gathering to get you car serviced. Besides, I bet the brakes on your car work much better than the brakes you had in the duckie! LOLOLOL...

I agree with Huggy Merchant. It is easier to say which is the least favorite though that would be tough to. All are great.
