Our favorite movie was released!!!!!
I'm going to celebrate by watching my DVD (this time) for the bazillionth time.
This past weekend I spent on Rogers Island at their annual F & I Encampment.
And. . . on Oct. 12-14 my unit gets to camp on the hallowed grounds of FWH itself! An unprecedented opportunity for reenactors in NY.
I will also check out the long-overdue museum upgrades.

Bushy Run is a little too late for me. But you should definitely get to Fort Ligonier, if only to visit. It has the best museum of the F&I that I have ever seen. Also, get to Fort Necessity. That's where it all started. Well, almost. Joumonville's Glenn is only 6 miles away. And you pass the Braddock Memorial on the way.

Sorry you couldn't make it up north this year Fitz. A bateau landing was added at Crown Point this year, which lead to a skirmish on the beach, the British forces being pushed back, and a patented Dave Bayer blindside.

My Bagley's 3rd Mass. group got an invite to Louisbourg (after all, I read the Mass. Provincials did spend some time up there); not sure if I can go yet. And I should look into the Grand Encampment VI too.

But, for me, next year's biggie will be the Battle of Bushy Run 250 with another of my units - Schlosser's 60th Royal Americans. I haven't been to the F & I sites in Penn. yet, so I'm looking forward to making it a big trip.

Sure, I remember meeting you and your daughter. I didn't make a single event in the north this year. I really missed that. Too many things came up this summer and I have to cancel out on most of what I did. Dave usually doesn't go to Rogers Island for some reason, but when I heard Daniel Roy was to be the French commander I thought Dave may have changed his mind. Guess not. Next year the Grand Encampment No. VI (I think) is going to be at Fort Frederick, MD. and Dave is going to be the commander of the milice. Fort Fred is only about 8 hours drive for me, less than half that of Crown Point. But there is also the 300th anniversary of the founding of Louisbourg that same weekend and I have to go there. Shame that the two biggest events of 2013 have to be on the same weekend.

Hello (again) Fitz!
As for the reenacting, my F & I units are Terry's Co. of NY Provincials (green coats) and Bagley's 3rd Mass. Regt. (navy blue coats).
You may recall we met at Crown Point in 2010 and 2011. In '10 I was a civilian and my daughter and I were sort of 'shopping' for a unit. Last year I was in the green coat and you and I talked about the upcoming LOTM 20th anniversary and I was hopeful of a celebratory Gathering.
I did see the Pequawkets on Rogers Is. this past weekend, but Dave Bayer was not there. It was a relatively smaller event. Between my two units though, I've been seeing plenty of Dave Bayer this past summer (Fort @ No. 4, Ft. Ontario, Crown Point, Hillsboro, NH). He has this nasty habit of coming up behind us. . . .
Dave and I have spoken several times this year and he is a wealth of information. It is my pleasure to know him. I do note that a certain Indian in his company has been bearing a striking resemblence to Magua this year. . . .

Coincidentally, I watched the movie again last weekend! While I knew it was 20 years ago, I didn't know the release date.

Which unit are you in? I am a member of the Pequawket Alliance out of New England. But, of course, I wasn't there last weekend. The ride was a bit much! I live in SC.

Was Dave Bayer there? I understand Daniel Roy was going.
