Posted - July 23 2008 : 12:58:19 PM Great video, I have always loved that song ever since seeing Cold Mountain. It's a pretty good movie, I do agree it was fabricated a bit but as far as a chic flick, a must see. Thanks for posting it! |

Posted - July 23 2008 : 06:18:24 AM I haven't actually watched Cold Mountain, but I just thought the person who made the video picked a pretty song. So, is Cold Mountain any good? lol |

Posted - July 22 2008 : 7:48:32 PM Yes; too bad Hollywood didn't bother to film any of it in North Carolina! ( Not to say, even the U.S. ) But I'm sure the wilds of ROMANIA ( !!! ) look EXACTLY like N.C.! Actually, Cold Mountain was just another piece of "hysterical" mish-mosh TRASH, right up there with "The North and South". I thought Renee Zellweiger was the only creditable thing about the entire production. ( And she was almost the only American in it! )
I could go on at great length about the farbisms in the one "big scene", the Battle of the Crater; despite their having imported God's Gift to Civil War Reenacting, the late Brian Pohanka, as "historical consultant". In all fairness to him, he probably had about as much impact on it as Cal Kinzer was able to have on the long-ago TV miniseries, "The Blue and the Gray"; which was minimal due to the structure of productions, as I've harped on here before. |

Posted - July 22 2008 : 11:05:12 AM This does seem to fit despite the fact it was written for a different time, different war! But any war, any love - I guess they all have their similarities. I do love that AK song! And...LOTM was filmed really close to the area in NC mountains where the story of Cold Mountain took place. Good connection!
