Posted - October 24 2002 : 02:37:03 AM Given today's computer technology, & the fact that there is still some scenes missing from the current "directors cut" dvd of LOTM, should there be a drive to see a new "expanded special edition" released, that includes not only the afore mentioned details, but also any interviews (etc.), & maybe even a special "video" featuring the now missing Clannad song from the movie?

Posted - May 26 2003 : 08:13:55 AM I would like to see a longer version of the movie and extra features including the making of LOTM, deleted scenes, cast member interviews, interview with the composers of the soundtrack, director's commentory, and movie trailer. I would also love to see some coverage of Native American history and culture, especially on the Mohicans.

Posted - May 19 2003 : 04:25:37 AM I would hate to see anything cut out of the movie.....it's perfect the way it is. For movies like LOTM they should just add things.....not take thigs away. Just my opinion. |

Posted - April 29 2003 : 05:34:29 AM Actually, most DVDs have more on them - a lot more - than their VHS counterparts. The image & sound quality cannot be touched by a VHS tape. Get the DVD player!
That said, The Last of the Mohicans DVD is somewhat unique. There are really no extras at all on it. Just the film. The Director's Expanded Edition does have things "cut-out". Not scenes so much as little parts of scenes. It also has stuff "added-in." To my way of thinking, it merely represents Mann's view of the film 8, or so, years later. A great addition to anyone's LOTM collection! |

Posted - April 28 2003 : 3:41:52 PM I just read on another topic that in the dvd expanded directors cut or whatever that they cut out a lot of good scenes. Are all the dvds like that? I have the tape and my husband is trying his hardest to get me to buy the dvd cuz he says dvd is better....not to mention that my tape is getting really fuzzy now. I don't want the dvd if it cuts out a lot of scenes. Can anyone help me? |

Posted - February 20 2003 : 3:39:14 PM Hi, All!
I was a bit disappointed with the 'Director's Expanded Edition' of LOTM...mostly because some of Hawkeye's lines were cut. Since I'm a Clannad fan from way back, I also disliked (okay, flat-out hated) that 'I Will Find You' was deleted.
I also wish someone had done a translation for the conversations Chingachgook, Uncas and Hawkeye had, especially before they decided to go to the fort and, later, when the powder situation was discussed.

Is it possible to _____? Find it? No...the only version is the Director's Edition. Believe me, I've looked. I've even had a hard time finding the widescreen version of the VHS version. I too miss some his comments. Some of the best ones too. I would LOVE to see a version with both together.

Posted - December 22 2002 : 09:39:38 AM I just bought a DVD player, and of course I bought the director's cut of LOTM. While I like the additional scenes at Fort WH, I also miss some of the "Hawkeye" comments on the tape I have. So, is it possible to the the theater version on DVD? |

Posted - December 16 2002 : 08:40:47 AM Curious, I'm not sure if you really don't know who Clannad is , but they are the group that sings "I Will Find You" when Nathaniel et al go after Cora and Alice. You'll have to watch the theater version, as they took it off the Director's Edition DVD.
The song is on their album "Banba", and the rest of it is pretty good as well. It's Celtic based and some of the songs are in Gaelic.

What you say Rich is probably unfortuantly very true :-( ...but my question is "IF" MM is going to release a Directors Cut (as he did), & make some significant changes, why not (with computer technology) "clean" up some of the more noticable goofs (elk man /the bus / & megaphone man)??
Dont get me wrong, I think MM is a heck 'uva director, but I wish he'd chosen to make perfection just wee bit more perfect ;-)
Am I asking too much?? Yeah, your probably right, I am. So.... give us more!!!! An Expanded Directors Cut, with ALL of the goodies!!! ;-)

My hope is that it gets re-released with both the Expanded Edition AND the Theatrical Version ... plus, perhaps, the trailer & interviews included with the TXS VHS version ...
... hmmmm ... a plug for this web site would be nice, too! |
