Ill get torn up for saying this, but I rank Morricones ' the Good, the Bad and the Ugly' just above LOTM. Very close, but the 'Ecstacy of Gold' when Tuco finds the graveyard and is mad with avarice, bears no equal. LOTM is intense however, THe music carrying the ending is strong.

I watched Legends Of The Fall today, well caught half of it on TV and I'd forgotten how beautiful the music is in that, can't top LOTM though

Please don't be shocked, but one of my favorites soundtracks is from the movie BLOW. The movie takes place "back in the day" of my teen years, so every song initiates a memory (some good, some bad).

Whoa-o Black Betty, Bam-a-lam!

Another favorite is music from Chocolat!

GG, Black Betty is one of my favorite songs!!! Your rock, girl!!

Here are a few more to add to the list of great soundtracks: The Sting, Quigley Down Under, Escape From New York.

Blow was a good movie, but then you must have like boogie nights too

I just remembered another one from a recent movie that I really, really like. "Pride and Prejudice" (the Keira Knightley movie) is just beautiful.

I think I will have to purchase the "Master and Commander" soundtrack. I'm surprised that I haven't done that yet!

I'd rank the Gettysburg soundtrack above LOTM's. I loved the movie from the first notes of the soundtrack and the first sight of the old-time (though possibly farb) photographs. Also above LOTM: Ry Cooder's gorgeous, country/Celtic/folk score for The Long Riders.

Other great scores: Out of Africa, King Arthur, Crimson Tide, Master and Commander, The Hunt for Red October, The Mission, Black Robe.

Odyssey.

Absolutely! Relying on good, known classical music is always a good movie ploy and one that has been done many times.

My husband loves watching UFC fighting and I noticed the LOTM music too. Was very exciting when I heard it!

I loved the Titanic soundtrack and what a movie. The others mentioned are all good as well and definitely not "forgetable" any time soon.

Then there is always the wonderful Harry Potter soundtrack. You all probably could guess I would love that one and mention it.
Wilderness Woman Posted - October 20 2007 : 5:57:11 PM
Well, right up there with the LOTM soundtrack for me is the one from The Patriot. Also like the Star Wars music. John Williams is amazing.

Another favorite of mine is the soundtrack from The Mask of Zorro (the Banderas one).

I think LOTM is tops on soundtracks followed by the Titanic.

I'd put "The Mission" and "Rob Roy" above LOTM in the soundtrack department; maybe "Lonesome Dove," too.
