Posted - April 04 2006 : 6:14:17 PM How many noticed when they were taking the girls to the fort, as they approach the side door, Nathaniel is walking so fast and the red coat in front is so slow that poor Cora almost get her hair set on fire!!!!! That's how it looks on the overhead shot.
It would be interesting to find out if Madeleine ever said anything about it in any interviews on the film.
It sure looks close, every time I watch it I move my head too!!!! |

be funny to see the outtakes if she did.
can you imagine getting around in all that garb?!?!?!?!?! I think tripping would have been an everyday occurance........lol
and now we have stars like Sandra Bullock (love her clutzy ways) making money out of it.
I love watching the scenes when the "Tantalising Trio" first rescue them and they're walking up stream along the banks then have to climb the rock face (you know where I'm talking about, the first time we see that GORGEOUS look on Eric's face when he's watching Alice)
watching Maddy try to get her footing without ripping her skirt off, I just think,......nah, give me a good ole pair of jeans anyday........heee heeeeheee

Posted - April 08 2006 : 9:43:19 PM Just a further note on this.... I paid special attention during this scene last night while taking screen captures of other stuff, and it appears to me that Cora actually trips up the hill a bit, causing her to get too close to the Highlander's torch. I don't think the Highlander was aware she was that close. |

Yes, I did watch it again after your post. Cora does move her head aside just then, yea. Good pickup, I hadn't noticed that. The angle does make it difficult to say how close the torch truly is though. Could be the wind caught it a bit and the heat was getting a bit intense if not the flame itself.

Posted - April 06 2006 : 12:20:09 PM Actually, I think that if we saw that scene looking at eye level with Cora, I think we would see that the Highlander is holding that torch very high... well above her head. Look at the way his arm is extended.
I think her eyebrows were quite safe!

An actress as beautiful as Maddy, you would have thought the 'wally' (sorry, Aussie slang for silly person.......lol....) holding the flame would have been more careful or even DDL, he was pretty close too so one would think he would have seen it coming and lead her slightly away from it..........
Can you imagine him whispering to the redcoat "hey twit, watch your bloody candle......."............tee hee

Posted - April 05 2006 : 12:37:06 AM Hi LeyLana, Good eyes! No, I hadn't noticed that. I'll have to watch that scene closer next time through.
I don't recall reading anything about it on her interview on this site (go to http://www.mohicanpress.com/stowe_interview.html) although I haven't read any of her other interviews about LOTM.
Let us know if you find anything. |
