I've listened, and listened, and listened, and can't make out what he says... and it's not in the dvd subtitles...
It's driving me crazy!!!
Thanks in advance.

That's what it sounds like to me too! I saved off a soundbyte from the dvd to my mobile phone.. won't try to post it though as i'm not sure if anyone else can listen to it, it's an .amr file (Nokia). I dont' know how to convert it to .wav or .rma.

Ok it'll just be our little secret.
Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you
Do you need your wagon/horse washed, a cup of java, some firewood chopped, anything???
I'm forever grateful for you risking life and limb by passing on this sensitive information. I think you should be safe though. The Brits and the Frenchies are busy shooting each other - no spies in here at the moment. |

I'm very curious to know how you save screenshots from the dvd's.. does it require special software??
Yes paazau, it is a screen shot from the Director’s Cut DVD. And you would be right with it being another difference between the two versions. When I watched this scene over with the subtitle, it does help you hear more clearly when Hawkeye is yelling Uncas!
As far as the screen captures go ... that is STRICTLY confidential information, I could get in BIG trouble just talking about it. OK ... just this once I will tell you how ... BUT! if something happens to me it’s on your conscience. Seriously, it is easy! There are many different ways to do it and many software programs you can buy. The program I use is a freeware program called MWSnap. Just click on this link http://www.allpdr.com/musthaves/id6.html and go to the bottom of the page to download. It only takes a few seconds.
Once launched, there is one important step you must take in order to do screen captures from movies. Right click on your Desktop, Properties, Settings, Advanced, Troubleshoot. Move hardware accelerator from Full to None. Apply Just remember to move the accelerator back when your done. If you do not follow these steps you will end up with a black screen when you go retrieve your screen capture.
There are different ways you can do screen captures with this program, but the easiest way I found is to do the following: 1. Pause your movie at the screen shot you want. 2. Click on the icon up at the top of page that looks like a blue & white envelope.(under tools) 3. Right click on the screen shot you have paused. 4.Go up to file and save to where you want the screen shot. It will take some getting used to but it’s easy once you do it a few times. If you get stuck just give me a shout.

Posted - March 24 2006 : 4:03:47 PM thanks meggied. I assumed you didn't mean 'hear' literally... although one never knows what little differences there are between video / original dvd / directors cut dvd... |

I know I saw this posted somewhere before but I will mention it again. Did anyone else catch the "cardboard rock" Hawkeye bumps into when he is running out of the rocks just before he yells "Uncas" He bumps into it and it really shakes. First time I noticed it. There are people paid to watch for mistakes like that. Guess they messed up with this scene.
LOL! Yea, I noticed that just this last time I watched it. I'd heard about a 'moving rock' blooper in that chapter but hadn't noticed it til the other day.
Wouldn't have wanted to be the person responsible for reviewing that footage before the final cut!!! |

Here is the definitive answer as to what Hawkeye is saying.

Posted - March 23 2006 : 3:31:33 PM I checked that scene again after I posted last night and I am sure it is Uncas that he yells out. I agree it is not very clearly said but he was out of breath from all the running and also in pain at seeing his "brother" killed by Magua.

Posted - March 23 2006 : 09:18:45 AM I hear Chingy (if I can call him that) yell "Noooooo!", but it sounds to me like Nathanial yells "Uncas!!!!" |

Posted - March 23 2006 : 08:05:22 AM I'm with Irishgirl -- it sounds like an anguished, long-drawn-out "Uncas!" |

Posted - March 22 2006 : 11:30:32 PM Thanks for your comments irishgirl.
Sounds to me like it starts with a consonant, not "U". Because I can't make it out, I get the impression it's not English. Could be my imagination....
Does anybody have/can they get a soundbite of that to post??? |

Posted - March 22 2006 : 10:58:36 PM As far as I know he just shouts out Uncas's name when he sees that Uncas is sliding down the cliffside after Magua finishes him off. |
