Posted - February 24 2006 : 11:58:36 AM Well I watched it yesterday and was surprised that there was so little extra footage put on there. Usually on Director's Cut DVD's they include all the extra footage and deleted scenes. This was disappointing. I had read on this board and there was only a couple of minutes of extra stuff so I was not expecting much but this was disappointing. What was Michael Mann thinking anyway? We all want to see everything that was filmed especially the Alice/Uncas scenes. I did enjoy Chingachkook's speech at the end of the movie when he talked about the frontier and the redman soon being gone from it. They should have left that in the original movie. Michael Mann needs to release a proper DVD with everything included on it for us fans of this masterpiece. |

Posted - March 05 2006 : 12:10:19 PM Keira, The DVD that you own is the original theatrical version, available everywhere on DVD but the U.S. Depending on who you talk to, some people would consider you one of the lucky ones. The other version is the Director's Expanded Edition, available only here in the U.S. This is the version with the missing scenes you mentioned. You can read about it here...http://www.mohicanpress.com/mo06036.html Hope this helps.quote: Originally posted by Keira
I`ve read some of the discussions conserning LOTM DVD. There`s been talking about missing scenes and the Clannad`s song being complitely gone. I own a copy and the song is still there. So are there different versions of the DVD? I`m confused...I`ve bought mine in Finland and I haven`t been able to find any other versions.

Posted - March 02 2006 : 3:39:23 PM Ah, yes, one of my 'favorite'topics - the "full release" of which the Sachem refers. I've been waiting to chime in on this topic and now seems the perfect time. While so many other movies get "expanded" or reissed, we can't seem to get either a complete LOTM movie or soundtrack. How frustrating!! I spend a lot of time on this and other F & I web sites and noticed that a marketing opportunity exists. It would/could involve releasing the long rumoured, complete, nearly three-hour LOTM film to coincide with the 250th anniversary re-enactment at Ft. Wm. Henry planned for Aug. 2007! Sounds like a pipe-dream? Perhaps, but I just wanted to throw this out there. I noted other similar topic threads here have referred to people and other contact info at Fox. Would/could anyone at Mohicanland care to present this potential tie-in opportunity to the Fox people? Maybe one day we'll see it all! Thanks for the great web site and your time.

Posted - March 01 2006 : 10:15:33 PM I really enjoyed the Extended Edition. If you really think about what was cut out versus what was edited back in it’s a pretty good trade off. In fact, if I watch the original now I kind of feel cheated without the additional footage. I’m just happy that an Extended Edition was done at all and they did an amazing job with the anamorphic transfer & sound. quote: Originally posted by Irishgirl

Posted - February 25 2006 : 09:23:56 AM Yeah ... I kinda agree ... after several years of viewing JUST the DVD version [which I do like very much], I am beginning to miss the parts that ain't there any longer. A full release sure would be appropriate! |
