Rich, you may know the answer to this. There has been a lot written and published about Hawkeye's rifle, "Killduncan", but what about the other guns in the film? Like Uncas' and Ching's, and the guns the Militia used, and the Hurons' fusils. I once saw the collection that used to be at Chimney Rock, but I don't remember the guns. And then there was the duplicate collection that was up for auction, I believe in 2002, and I think it had one or two of the other guns in it. Is there any documentation, or are there any pictures, of the other guns? Outside of the Bess that Eric Hurley has, I don't think I have seen any.

never stepped frame by frame to confirm this, but expect the british to have mostly 1'st model long land, the french regulars to have 1728 and 1763 charlevilles, the hurons & abenakis to have french type 'c' and type 'd' trade guns, and the british allied natives to have northwest trade guns, with maybe a few dutch trade guns thrown in.
one of these days will realy have to check close...

Then last summer Eric Hurley was shooting his Bess at the French Broad range, and I started thinking about how many different kinds of guns there much have been. I know there were a lot of fake guns, and I think only the "core" extras carried real firing ones. But in the battle scenes the French must have had firing weapons, and the Indians certainly had them, and they were probably different types of guns from the other's. Then there was Chingachgook's gun and Uncas' gun, and Magua's. I think I remember reading that one of them was made by Centermark. There were probably a lot of builders involved in producing the needed amount of guns for the time schedule of the filming. If would be great if enough pictures and data were available to put together some documentation on them. At this late date, that may not be possible.

That ended up a disaster, Fitz. After all the bids were in, the seller, Roger Worley, decided he could make more selling the entire collection as a unit. He pulled the plug on the auction at the last minute. So much for verbal agreements!

One of several times we've been burned during this run ...

To say I was pissed is an understatement!!!

By the way, Rich, whatever happened to that duplicate props collection that was being auctioned off in 2002?

Throughout this site's photo galleries, there are many shots of the various weapons used in LOTM, Fitz. Nothing focused in like we have on Killdeer, though ... mostly courtesy of Bill Rooks.

The name Brian Lemaster rings a bell. Is he a gunmaker? I think he did a lot of work on some of the weapons.

Anyway, 2 pics:

The props raffle

Props on display at Chimney Rock [no longer there!!!!]. Somehow, old friend Marie Faure got 'em to open the case!!!

Well I certainly can't answer for Rich, or anyone else, - but a search on "Ask Jeeves" or "Google", or other engines might come up with something.
