Posted - October 12 2004 : 8:42:33 PM Out of the characters in LOTM..who would you want to be desperately running up the cliff side and risk their life for you? The way Uncas did for Alice. Who would you want to exchange those looks with at the cliffs and everything? Obviously, this question is generally more for the ladies. I mean, how many men out there would actually want a girl having to save them or can picture Cora and Alice running up to save them?? lol.
--Once again..I'd want Uncas to! He's too perfect. lol. Sorry about all the questions today folks..just got a lot of LOTM questions to be asked! lol.

Posted - October 30 2004 : 2:00:55 PM Hmmmmm, that's strange. The movie is not listed on Eric's imdb.com page. Filming does not begin until next year but when the media releases go out, they add it to imdb under pre-production. The release was in May and no news since. I wonder if the whole thing fell through? I hope not. |

Posted - October 17 2004 : 01:18:23 AM Blueotter, Yes! The carvings are great! Well yes...he was very attractive in LOTM. Lol, probably the most amazingly gorgeous man on the planet. Even now though, he's older and doesnt exactly look the same, I still find him completely adorable! He's so talented! lol. Actually, I was doing my regular Eric Schweig internet browsing and found that he is to star in a movie called "Witched of Fairhaven." (not sure if I spelled that right). I'll have to see it. They don't start filming for a while but still excited. Is that exciting or what?!?

Posted - October 16 2004 : 12:51:16 AM UL: Yes, I did see "Big Eden", and I did think he was very convincing -- which upset me a little. It was like a much diluted version of when I was a teenager and found out that my favorite rock star was getting married and was no longer "available" to me, even though he never really was in the first place. I hadn't heard anything about Eric Schweig since LOTM, but I remembered how appealing he had been, even moreso than Hawkeye! Then to see him play someone SO unavailable in "Big Eden"! Yikes! Well, seeing him in "Skins" later, made me feel much better! I'm very curious to see what his next project will be. Have you heard anything? Have you seen the masks that he carves? Those are amazing! |

Posted - October 15 2004 : 11:11:19 PM Blueotter, Oh I know!! He was the EXACT opposite no doubt. However, I think ES is a spectacular actor. I think he did awesome in "The Missing." However, I do like him better as Uncas. heh heh. How do you like him? And, have you seen "Big Eden?" He was really good in that as well!

Posted - October 13 2004 : 11:56:36 PM UL: In real life Uncas would have had more of a chance of saving Alice. He seemed destined to lose the battle in the book/movie, given the title and all...!
I think if he had defeated Magwa (sp?), Alice would have survived the whole ordeal much better, because that "final blow" -- ending up as Magwa's slave/woman -- would have been eliminated. AND she would have had Uncas as a strong, kind and tender mate. If she hadn't considered staying with him before, I think she wouldn't question it after.
How do you feel when you see ES acting as the brujo in "The Missing?" It's the opposite of Uncas...! Amazing, huh?

Posted - October 13 2004 : 9:08:46 PM Yea...Blueotter, you are right. He didn't exactly save her, but he did TRY. And to know that someone like Uncas is willing to give his life for me, well, that would be the best feeling in the world to me. lol. And maybe, if he was saving me, it would turn out happy and hopefully, he would live through it. lol. --UL13 |

Posted - October 12 2004 : 11:14:36 PM Back at the LOTM website... here is the reference you mentioned:
Dennis Banks ... Ongewasgone
Well, I don't remember which character that was. I'd have to go back and watch the film again closely. Too many things distract when you're watching at home: the cats, the telephone, falling asleep.... But at least by my mistakes, I am learning new things.
Thanks!

I think perhaps you misspoke? Russell Means played Ching. I can easily see why you might confuse the two names, since they were both involved in those early issues. And didn't Dennis Banks have a small part in the movie? |

Posted - October 12 2004 : 9:15:01 PM I don't know UL, there might be a few guys here that wouldn't mind being saved by Cora or Alice. As for me, I don't know, it would be a toughie, but I guess that I would have to go with the very rugged Hawkeye.

Posted - October 12 2004 : 9:04:26 PM I rather like the idea of Chingachgook rescuing me... the determination on his face when he was running to help his son rescue Alice was intense. He was a lot older than his son, of course, but his skill and expertise in navigating the wilderness far surpassed that of Uncas, if only because he had been doing it so much longer. Also, I remember Dennis Banks as a young man, and his involvement in AIM. He was already a hero when he acted the part of Chingachgook, which affected my feelings about the character right off the bat. Another thought, and this is not to take away from your devotion to him, but Uncas didn't really save Alice, did he?
