Well..yesterday..my best friend and I had a sleepover. My best friend's name is Jilli. Well she had never seen LOTM before. I told her she had to see it and so we watched it. She was into the whole thing, and like everyone else, adored Uncas. lol. The scene where Duncan, Uncas, and Alice all die came. I didn't think anyone could cry as horribly as I do..but Jilli did. When that movie was over she said "Nora, that movie changed my life. That is the single best movie I have ever seen. That is the best ending to the best movie!!" She kept talking and talking about it. I felt so happy and proud that the movie we are all so fond of, had such an impact on someone's life. GREAT, HUH?! Please reply.

Exactly!! I feel EXACTLY the same way you do! People should have so much more respect for such an incredible movie!! And also, I have cried and cried and cried during that movie also! :)

I remember I saw part of the movie on TV when I was very young, I didn't want to watch it. After I became a re-enacter though, i couldn't wait to watch it. The first time I really sat down and watched it, I couldn't stop crying, it was and is such a powerful movie and the impact it's had on my life is amazing. It makes me so frusterated to sit in my history classes watching clips of the movie and everyone is talking and laughing. It's just like wrong...

That's so funny! I always think I was born in the wrong time. However I do appreciate modern medicine and hygiene. One day I'd like to break out the hoop skirt and just start wearing period costumes around. I don't know how well that would work out, but it would be so much fun.

I'm so glad all you guys understand! I've always told myself that I was born in the wrong time period. I've always wanted to live back in the times of LOTM. The French and Indian War has always interested me...and it gets me so upset when people are just so hung up on dumb things that they can't even experience the wonderful emotion of that film!!

Oh, I know some people can be so dumb(and loud). I haven't seen Glory, But I think the Civil War is really interesting. I might just have to check it out.

Yah,LOTM is a good film.I haven't watched it in class, but here's something similar to your experience UncasLover.

The year before last our history teacher slipped in the film "Glory" a story about a white Colonel leading the first black regiment in the Civil War.So,the class started to watch it and halfway through the movie they talked when I was into the whole thing.Although I've seen it before..I wanted to watch it.Anyway, they only quieted during the intense battle scenes and laughed when Shaw (Matthew Broderick) was sprinting across the dirt and the black regiment behind him was slowing down...they laughed "Look at whitey run" and "That white guy can run". Ofcourse,I was angry, but there's not much you can do with an immature group of teens who care,as you said Uncas Lover, more about their shoes and getting high and about themselves.

riverevir Posted - June 14 2004 : 2:43:21 PM
You got it. I wish I could experience what things were like way back when.
UncasLover13 Posted - June 14 2004 : 2:28:37 PM
I totally know what you mean! It's like, they don't understand how much the movie means to us. People are just more concerned about how they look, what to wear, and are so hung up on shallow things that they think we're weird for liking a movie that is as awesome as LOTM!

Oh, I know. Some people just don't get it. I try not to even mention how much I like this movie to anyone. I usually get started on some really long tangent about how the story is beautiful, how many times I've seen the movie and how I would like to visit the location it was filmed at. The person I was talking to usually ends up giving me some weird looks. How rude is that?!
UncasLover13 Posted - June 13 2004 : 4:36:08 PM
Hello again. I know..isn't that so disrespectful for someone to sit there through such a powerful movie and not even show the least bit of interest or emotion for the movie. I was talking to a boy in my class and I said how much I love the movie and *uncas* lol..and this is what he said to me "That whole movie is dumb, the only part I like is when Uncas gets thrown off the cliff. It was funny." I got so extremely angry and felt like I was about to cry. Ugh..PEOPLE THESE DAYS!

I'm 15 and the movie is good.I like it as well.

I'm 15 and just had the experience of watching LOTM in my History class. I was really excited to hear that my teacher was going to show it, but when the movie was playing it was extremely dissapointing to observe the lack of appreciation. While I was fighting to control the tears running down my face the people behind me were talking loudly about where they purchased their shoes! I am just very glad to hear that someone else my age likes this awesome movie.
Kaylynn44 Posted - June 12 2004 : 5:54:37 PM
That's the good thing about LOTM. It appeals to all age ranges. It doesn't matter if you are 10 or 110, you can't help but love this movie!!!
Good going Nora, but don't just stop at getting your best friend to watch it. Get all of your friends to watch it!!!

You only have to look at the folks that are here on the website to see how many people have been greatly stirred by the movie! It's a remarkable movie...it "haunts" me (in the best sense)---the setting, the characters, the story, the scenery, the music...
Get the soundtrack--you'll love it!

I'm glad to hear that someone your age enjoys Last of the Mohicans!
