Posted - May 21 2004 : 8:53:22 PM As you all know, I love LOTM!! My dad really loves the movie too, and usually watches it with me. Well, my older sister and brother hate the movie (how can they hate it?!) and they always make fun of it and everything. They also know how I feel about Uncas a.k.a. Eric Schweig, and when he gets killed in the movie..they laugh and make fun of me. It's so hurtful to me, because I'm so very into that movie and emotional over that part, and they just don't understand! They tell me it's a dumb movie and just really rip on it so bad that I cry even more!! My siblings and I usually get along so well, but they are being so mean to me about it. I hope I don't sound immature about it, but this just really hurts my feelings. What should I do to try to not get so upset about it? HELP! -UncasLover- |

Posted - May 21 2004 : 10:51:36 PM UncasLover, Did you ever think that they might be a little jealous that you and your dad spend time together watching LOTM? Sometimes when siblings get jealous, they try to get back by teasing. In reality, they wish that they were the ones spending time watching a movie with your dad. Next time they tease you, just ignore them. When they see that they can get a reaction out of you, then they will keep doing it. Just remember that they love you, even if they do tease.

Posted - May 21 2004 : 10:30:55 PM Dear Uncuslover,
I can feel your pain, not over the movie but the teasing. My daughter has a rare skin disorder(one of 7 in the world), and she has been getting it removed surgically since she was 4. We just finished removing it at the age of 10. It covers much of her left side. Between growing and moving, terrible scarring has occured. Children can be cruel and they are by saying "gee it sucks to be you to one instance of having a senior on the bus threaten to pull her stitches out. As you can imagine, she has been going through alot of emotional pain, as you are over Uncus and the LOTM movie.
My advice and that of her surgeon for Emily is the same as what I am going to share with you.... ignore them and they will stop. I know that this doesn't sound like much but it does help.
I feel it is time for the teasing to stop, for your family members to grow up and realize what thier teasing is doing to you.
Good luck.
