Posted - March 19 2004 : 06:30:43 AM My mom was always telling me that American Indians were fearless, tough, courageous and not afraid of death..yet gentle..kinda hard for me to imagine (partially 'cos we aren't Americans..far from it!We are across the Atlantic!) and anything I knew about American Indians were thru snippets of books and a few movies..but after watching LOTM that many years ago and I'm pretty sure the potrayal os them were accurate..I was entirely convinced..thru Uncas and his father. They are the epitome of all the qualities my mom mentioned... |

Posted - April 20 2004 : 12:57:56 AM My knowledge about Native Americans is also through books, web sites, and movies. I believe there are both good and bad in all races. Having seen so many negative portrayals of the Native Americans in older movies, I am happy to see more balanced views in recent movies such as LOTM. I hope Hollywood will consider making more contemporary movies about Native Americans and their interaction with other cultures. |

Posted - April 19 2004 : 10:44:52 AM Well. <SIGH> It's all about education. Civilization means: build big social structures where the individual plays a specific and limited part in a bigger screen. You see. A state of ants will defeat a population of bigger single animals like scorpions or so. The Europeans had to go this way because they discovered it. You can be assured our ancestors, the the kelts, the germans and so on lived in a way very similar way to the native americans and showed the same virtues.
