Posted - February 06 2004 : 05:48:19 AM When Hawkeye and Cora lay together in the cemetery, cora calls Hawkeye mr Poe. But he didn't even introduce himself... Does Poe like Doe, describe an unknown person? I'm very inquisitive!
I'm going to buy LOTM on DVD. Are there many special features, like interviews, or behind the scenes?

Posted - February 06 2004 : 8:20:16 PM The book is very different than the movie. It was written when it was supposed to take a long time to read a book. There are wonderful word pictures. The dialog is extensive and expansive. Natty moralizes incessantly. (and I like the book!) To try out the book, it is avalable at http://gutenberg.kk.dk/etext97/mohic10.txt |

Posted - February 06 2004 : 7:39:23 PM Marg, The book was a struggle for me. If you have the time and can understand JFC's style of writing, then I would say go ahead and read it. 'course, I'd rather spend all that time looking at Hawkeye than reading about him... |

Posted - February 06 2004 : 3:14:55 PM Thank you, both Kurt and Richfed!
It's a shame that there are no special features!!
And, one more question, do you recommend me to read the book, or is it worse than the film? Honest opinion please!
Thank you so much, I feel really welcome here.

As for the DVD - Nada ... there are NO special features at all ... As I've said before, consider this Web Site the Special Feature! |

Posted - February 06 2004 : 06:25:06 AM A lot of stuff gets changed between a book and a movie. I couldn't figure out how to point to this post from a similarly named thread from February 22, 2003:

As for the name, I stand corrected. "Natty" (short for Nathaniel} and "Bumppo" (long for Poe) perhaps?
Correct! Nat[ty]haniel Bumppo[e]!
Cooper = Natty Bumppo Mann = Nathaniel Poe
